By giving your members the freedom to set their own amount, you can increase both the number and the average value of gift-cards sold, helping you make the most of the season’s generosity.

Beyond Christmas, this feature makes your gift-cards even more attractive year-round — perfect for birthdays, celebrations, or simply treating a loved one.

Let's see how to set them up.

Create a gift card

  • Just like for any other gift cards, go to Products> Gift cards

  • Click Add a gift card

  • In the form activate Custom value

  • Set the minimum and maximum value that your members will be able to enter

    • The value chosen by your members will have to be in this interval

  • Note that:

    • You can only enter round values

    • Both fields cannot be negative

    • The minimum value is 1 and the maximum is 1500

    • The maximum should be higher than the minimum

  • Fill the rest of the form and click Save

Your first custom amount gift card has been created!

This feature is also available on Master Accounts with shared databases.

Why a 1500 maximum?

At bsport, we are using Stripe as our payment provider. For gift cards, Stripe doesn't allow a value higher than 2000$ (USD). If a gift card is sold at a higher price, Stripe might stike the corresponding account and cut off all payments.

In order to avoid this scenario, but also to keep a security margin as money valuation varies overtime, we decided to set a limit at 1500 for all currencies. Making sure we won't go over the limit imposed by Stripe.

What will your members see?

  • On the member side, the custom gift cards will appear at the top of the list.

  • Once in the pruchase flow, they will see a Custom value field to enter the value they want to offer.

  • Custom amount gift cards can be printable code or activated through a link.

For now, custom amount Gift cards can only be sold on the member area. It is not possible to sell them on the back office.

Reporting

For both your reports:

  • Gift cards

  • Purchased gift cards

You will now have the column Type, to indicate the time of gift card.

  • Free amount: for your custom amount gift cards

  • Fixed: for the fixed value gift cards

If you don't see this new column, you can add it by editing your default view
