Send a direct message to a member

This article will guide you on how to send a direct message to a member

Updated over a week ago

Direct messages allow you to contact a member individually, even if they have unsubscribed from marketing communications. Unlike marketing emails sent via smartlists or campaigns, direct messages are intended for one-to-one communication and can still be delivered when marketing notifications are turned off.

To send a direct message, navigate to the member’s profile and locate the messaging or communication section. From there, you can compose and send a message directly to the member.

Direct messaging should be used with care. It is intended for important, relevant communication that directly impacts the member, such as updates to their account, bookings, or services they are using. It should not be used to send marketing or promotional content.

Even though it is technically possible to contact members via direct message, sending marketing content to members who have opted out of marketing communications may constitute a breach of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is therefore at your discretion to ensure that all communication remains appropriate and compliant.

This feature is best used for essential, service-related communication where the information is necessary for the member.
