How to declare your trader status in Google Play Console

Google now asks every developer account to declare its trader status by February 2027, or the account and its apps are removed from Google Play. It takes 2 minutes.

Under Google Play's policies (EU Digital Services Act), every developer account must now declare whether it is a trader. If the declaration isn't made by February 2027, Google removes the developer profile and all its apps from Google Play, in every country, including your branded app.

The good news: it takes about 2 minutes, with no documents to upload or verification to wait for.

Who Can Do This?

Only the account owner of your Google Play Console can declare the trader status. bsport has admin access to your account, but we can't do this step for you: the "Get started" button stays greyed out for anyone who isn't the owner.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Log in to Google Play Console

  2. Find the trader status banner

    • On the home page of your developer account, you'll see "Declare your trader status by February 2027" with the label Action required.

    • Click Get started.

  3. Confirm you are a trader

    • Select "Yes, I am a trader". Your studio offers services to customers through the app as a business, so this is the right answer for a bsport branded app.

    • Click Continue.

  4. Self-certify

    • Tick both self-certification checkboxes.

  5. Save

    • Click Save. The banner disappears once the declaration is done.

Good to Know

  • As a trader, Google may show your business contact details (such as your address, email and phone number from your developer account) on your app's store page for users in the EU. Make sure these details are up to date in your Play Console account settings.
