Setting your price per hour
Updated over a week ago

On Bubble, sitters and nannies set their own hourly rates which tend to vary depending on their experience, qualifications and age of the person as this should be in line with the National Minimum Wage.

Setting a competitive hourly rate is key to getting more jobs. Currently, we find that the hourly price generally ranges from around £9-14 with the average hourly rate across the UK being £10.

If you would like any support or guidance on your hourly rate reach out to us at support@joinbubble.com.

When setting your rate, you may want to bear the following in mind:

Where you live. The cost of living varies depending on which part of the country you live in, and this is often factored into your rates. For example, sitters and nannies in London may charge slightly more (around £10-12) compared to those in other parts of the UK.

When the sit is happening. If the sit is on a popular time or day (e.g. a Saturday evening), you may want to charge more than if you were booking a sit for a weekday afternoon.

How many children there are to look after. If a sitter is going to be looking after multiple children, they may choose to apply to a sit with a higher rate than if they are looking after one child, and vice versa. Some sitters may also adjust their rates depending on how old the children are.

Your experience. Typically professional nannies or sitters with a lot of experience will charge more than casual sitters who use the app less often. Sitters with specific childcare experience, such as maternity nurses, childminders or teachers may charge more.

Extra household tasks. It’s up to you whether you are happy to help with specific tasks around the house, such as ironing or cooking. Some sitters choose to charge a higher rate if they do decide to help out. We’d recommend discussing this with parents in advance.
