Our DBS Certificate checking Policy
Updated over 2 years ago

Sitters are able to upload a copy of their Enhanced DBS Certificate or PVG Membership for verification by Bubble. The date of issue must be less than 18 months old (or the sitter must be subscribed to the DBS Update Service*) and the certificate must specify the sitter having been checked against the DBS Children's Barred List. Once successfully verified by Bubble, a sitter will then display the DBS badge on the first page of their profile.

A verified DBS is NOT a condition of being on the app itself โ€“ just for displaying the DBS badge on your profile. You're still welcome to show certificates we're unable to verify to parents.

As Bubble is a marketplace, not an employer, we view an Enhanced DBS certificate or PVG
Membership certificate just as any parent, acting reasonably would.

This means that if any record or notice on a valid certificate leads us to believe there is a potential risk to safety or property, we reserve the right to either remove that user from the Bubble platform or not mark their profile as 'DBS Verified'.

This would include, but is not limited to, such things as an:

  • Ability to look after a child safely and exercise reasonable judgment.

  • Ability to drive a car legally and safely.

  • Ability to act fairly and honestly with another user and/or their property.

To upload your certificate for verification, visit the DBS section of your onboarding portal.

*If you're on the DBS Update Service, we'll still need to see the original certificate linked to your subscription. This is because the DBS Children's Barred List information actually contained within the certificate is not available on the Update Service, which is what we need to verify.
