Our DBS/ PVG Certificate checking Policy

Updated this week

Sitters are able to upload a copy of their DBS Certificate or PVG Membership for verification by Bubble. The date of issue must be less than 18 months old (or the sitter must be subscribed to the DBS Update Service*) and if Enhanced, the certificate must specify the sitter having been checked against the DBS Children's Barred List. Once successfully verified by Bubble, a sitter will then display the DBS badge on the first page of their profile.

A verified DBS is NOT a condition of being on the app itself – just for displaying the DBS badge on your profile. You're still welcome to show certificates we're unable to verify to parents, such as certificates with an issue date over 18 months ago.

As Bubble is a marketplace rather than an employer, we can only promote sitter profiles where the associated checks can be presented to parents as fully clear. If a valid certificate contains any record, disclosure, or notice, we reserve the right to remove the user from the Bubble platform.

This is because parents do not have access to individual background checks or DBS certificates themselves so could not make an informed judgement on the type of record, disclosure or notice that appears on a DBS, even if it seems irrelevant to a sitter's work or if it was a long time ago.

We apply the same safeguarding standards to all applicants and this decision should never be interpreted as a personal judgement about any individual.

To upload your certificate for verification, visit the DBS section of the onboarding portal in the app.

*If you're on the DBS Update Service, we'll still need to see the original certificate linked to your subscription. This is because the DBS Children's Barred List information actually contained within the certificate is not available on the Update Service, which is what we need to verify.
