Petcare: Tips for your sitter
Updated over 11 months ago

Booking a pet sitter on Bubble? To help your sitter out, we've put together some discussion points that will help them to feel extra confident in taking great care of your pet and to make sure things go smoothly for your pet too.

  1. Your pet. What does your pet like, and what do they not like so much? Does your pet ever feel anxious if they're left alone and do they get on well with new people, children or animals? Do they have a history of bites?

  2. Routines and feeding. What kind of foods and treats does your pet like to eat, at what times, and how much? Are they motivated by treats?

  3. Out and about. Some pets have good recall if walking off-lead in public spaces or in the garden, but we know that's not the case for everyone! Let your sitter know what their limits are, and if your pet has a muzzle or lead, it can help to show your sitter how yours works.

Top tip: Sitters love to hear suggestions for great walking spots in your local area.

  4. Health. Is your pet up to date with their vaccines and will they require any medication during the booking? If your female dog is on heat, it's best to let your sitter know as they may require a closer eye when they're out and about together.

  5. Communicating with your pet. Which commands does your pet know and which gestures do they recognise? Sitters love to know if your pet knows any tricks, and pets love practising these with sitters in exchange for a treat. These exercises can help to build a trusting relationship between the sitter and your pet!

  6. Helping your pet to feel comfortable with their new friend. Does your pet have its own favourite bed, basket or toys? Do they require their own space or downtime? It can be a good idea to bring any special items along to any boarding bookings to reduce any separation anxiety and give your pet a sense of familiarity while you're away.
