Introduction.

Locking accounting period means sealing off a time period in your financial records to prevent any changes or amendments.

Imagine you run a small bakery, and you've just closed the books for the month. Everything's in order, and your profits are looking amazing! Now, you don't want anyone (not even accidentally) edit with these numbers. Locking the accounting period is like sealing your recipe book in a safe to make sure your secret ingredients stay secret and your financial data stays accurate. Also, it doesn't mess up your company's accounting.

Here is how to lock the accounting period in Bukku:


How to Lock Accounting Period.

1. Head to Control Panel > Company Settings > Lock Accounting Period.

2. Set the date of lock period.

You can choose the final day of your Financial Year End.

3. Set your passcode.

* only in digits. preferably something simple and easy to remember.

4. Once you are done, click on Save.


How to amend transactions in the locked period.

Notes: Ways to bypass lock period.

  • Users with the 4 digits lock passcode can enter the passcode to make changes for any transactions in the lock period.

  • Users with special rights enabled to Bypass Lock Period (passcode not required)

    • turn it on at Control Panel > Users > Special Rights.

1. Create a new/select the transaction.

Proceed and make your amendments.

2. Enter the passcode to override the locked transactions. Once entered, click OK.

3. Your transaction in the locked period has been updated.
