Ok, My iPhone (Health app) is Connected. How Do I Sync?

Learn how to sync steps from the Apple Health app into Healthy Cities

Updated over 5 months ago

Now that you’ve connected the Health app, learn how to sync your data to Healthy Cities. We’ll also show you how to make sure you’ve got data available to sync!

The Syncing Process

To sync to Healthy Cities, you just need to open your Healthy Cities app and wait to see a ‘Last synced:' message to confirm that you’ve synced.

We recommend syncing by opening the Healthy Cities app at least once a day during your challenge.

All Healthy Cities challenges have a 72-hour grace period after the challenge ends to give you extra time to sync your final steps, so make sure you sync before the grace period is up!

Where Does Healthy Cities Get My Data?

Healthy Cities pulls your activity data from the Health app. The Health app can track step and distance data on its own (Note: Active minutes aren’t recorded by the Health app. Learn more here.) to allow your iPhone to work as your fitness tracker, or you can connect another device or app to the Health app like Polar, Pebble, or Xiaomi devices. The activity data from that device or app will need to be present in the Health app in order to sync to Healthy Cities.

If steps, distance, or minutes aren’t showing here, then they can’t sync to Healthy Cities:

If activity data isn’t showing in Apple Health or syncing correctly to Healthy Cities, please see these troubleshooting tips for iPhone (Health app) users.
