Ok, My Google Fit is Connected to Health Connect. How Do I Sync?

Learn how to sync steps from your Health Connect to Healthy Cities via Google Fit

Updated over a week ago

Now that you’ve connected your Google Fit to Health Connect, learn how to sync steps, distance, and active minutes to Healthy Cities. We’ll also show you how to make sure you’ve got data available to sync.

The Syncing Process

To sync to Healthy Cities :

  1. Open the Google Fit app on your phone.

  2. Navigate to the Journal tab, which is usually found at the bottom of the screen.

  3. At the top of the Journal screen, you will see a sync icon, which typically looks like two circular arrows.

  4. Tap this sync icon to manually force the app to sync with Google's servers.

This action prompts Google Fit to fetch the latest available data from all its sources (your phone's sensors, connected smartwatches like Wear OS watch, etc.) and update your activity log.

Once you’ve refreshed the Google Fit app, open your Healthy Cities app and wait to see a ‘Last synced:' message to confirm that you’ve synced to Healthy Cities.

We recommend syncing by refreshing your Google Fit totals and then opening the Healthy Cities app at least once a day during your challenge. All Healthy Cities challenges have a 24-hour grace period after the challenge ends to give you extra time to sync your final steps, so make sure you sync before the grace period is up.
