How to Create a Filter in Survey and Data Settings
Creating a filter in Survey and Data Settings allows you to target specific groups of people for your surveys or phone lists. This can be useful for targeting specific demographics or voter histories. Follow the steps below to create a filter.
Step 1: Access Survey and Data Settings
To begin, click on the settings icon in the top right corner of your screen. Then, select "Survey and Data Settings" from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Navigate to Set Filters
Once on the Survey and Data Settings page, click on the "Set Filters" button. This will take you to the page where you can create your filter.
Step 3: Choose Filter Type
At the top of the Set Filters page, you will see two options for filter types: doors (represented by a man walking icon) and phones (represented by a phone icon). Toggle the switch to the appropriate option for your filter.
Step 4: Name Your Filter
Next, click on the name box and type in a name for your filter. This will help you easily identify and select your filter in the future.
Step 5: Select Target Criteria
Now it's time to choose the criteria for your filter. You can filter by party affiliation, voter frequency, registration date, age, gender, tags, and last contacted. Simply click on the dropdown menus and select your desired criteria.
Note: The process for setting up a pre-set filter is the same as setting up a walk list or phone list.
Step 6: Use the Tag Dropdown
The most popular section to use in creating a filter is the Tag dropdown. Here, you can select election history tags, uploaded tags, or survey tags to further refine your filter.
Note: If you are setting up a filter that involves both an election history tag (e.g. 2020 General Voters) and an uploaded tag (e.g. calculated party hard republican), make sure to toggle on the "General tags And/Or" filter. This will make the statement an "And" function, meaning the voter must meet both criteria (in this example, they must have voted in the 2020 General election and be a Hard Republican).
Step 7: Select Misc Filter for Phone Filters
If you are creating a phone filter, the last dropdown you will need to select is the Misc filter. Here, you can choose to call home or cell phones and select a TRC (telephone reliability code) of either high (recommended), medium, or low.

Each campaign/state party has their own unique URL to login. If you do not know your campaign's unique login URL please contact a staffer or admin with your campaign.
Congratulations, you have successfully created a filter in Survey and Data Settings! Your filter will now be available for use on the Create Walk list or Create Phone list page.
