Sync a Canvas Course and Roster to CampusKnot

Syncing your Canvas course in CampusKnot is a straightforward process that allows you to either create a new course on CampusKnot or sync the Canvas roster to an existing course on CampusKnot.

Prerequisites

If you encounter an error during any of the steps below, please log out of your LMS (Canvas or Blackboard) and log back in.

  1. Log in to Canvas.

  2. Visit your Course Materials Page and select 'Launch Courseware'.

  3. Select the 'Sync Course/Roster' option.

What steps do I follow next?

If you have a course for a single section on Canvas or a cross-listed/ multi-section course that you'd like to sync on CampusKnot, please follow the diagram below.

A cross-listed or multi-section course: Cross-listing allows faculty to move section enrollments from individual courses and combine them into one course. This feature is helpful for instructors who teach several sections of the same course and only want to manage course data in one location.

NOTE: For this type of course, the roster for each section must be uploaded manually on CampusKnot.

  • Create a New Course: If you haven't created a course inside CampusKnot for the semester, choose this option.

  • Import to an Existing Course: If you have created a course on CampusKnot, choose this option.

Sync Roster and Create a New Course on CampusKnot

If you encounter an error during any of the steps below, please log out of your LMS (Canvas or Blackboard) and log back in.

  1. Select the course whose roster you want to sync with CampusKnot.

  2. Once you've selected the desired Canvas course, click on 'Create course and sync'.

  3. After the 'Success' message, log in to your CampusKnot account and verify that your new course and roster are updated.

  4. Visit the Members option inside CampusKnot:

  5. Choose the Manage Members Option:

  • Pending List: Students who do not yet have a CampusKnot account will appear in the 'Pending' list.

  • Members List: Students who already have a CampusKnot account will be listed as members of the new course.

Sync Roster to an Existing Course on CampusKnot

If you encounter an error during any of the steps below, please log out of your LMS (Canvas or Blackboard) and log back in.

  1. Choose the 'Import to Existing Course' option

  2. Select the Canvas course that you'd like to sync on CampusKnot.

  3. Select the already-created CampusKnot course

  4. Once you've selected the desired Canvas and CampusKnot course, click on 'Import to Existing Course'.

  5. After seeing the 'Success' message, log in to your CampusKnot account and verify that your new course and roster are updated.

  • Visit the Members option inside CampusKnot:

  • Choose the Manage Members Option:

  • Pending List: Students who do not yet have a CampusKnot account will appear in the 'Pending' list.

  • Members List: Students who already have a CampusKnot account will be listed as members of the new course.
