Feeder vessels, transshipment and rail transport to dry ports. How does Cargofive process this?

Updated over 6 months ago

As you know Cargofive is a platform in constant development and improvement and as a new tool, it still has some limitations, in this case we are talking about the possibility of processing multiple variations of route for the same POL-POD as when we have multiple feeder routes to reach a destination port or different rail lines to do so. Currently Cargofive is not able to process more than a one route for each POD if the difference is based on any kind of transshipment or VIA, so how does the platform process and load these contracts? Depends 😄

Let's see some examples:

1. If a route is duplicated, that is to say the POL and the POD is the same, despite the fact that the VIA is different, the most expensive will be loaded

Let's say we have this on our tariff:

The system can only process one route Barcelona/Valencia - Chicago so the one VIA Norfolk will be processed and shown on the rate finder as:

Another example for maritime routes, in this case we have two options to get to POD Jakarta, VIA Port Kelang and VIA Sigapore.

In this case Port Kelang is more expensive so this route will be loaded

This will be shown in the Rate Finder as a single route

2. If a route is duplicated and both options have the same cost as in this example:

The first route option in the list will be processed, in this case VIA La Spezia and shown on the rate finder as:

3. If a feeder is in the contract both as a route and as an arbitrary, only the route will be processed.

Lets say we have this in our tariff:

  1. Direct route: BCN/VLC - Chicago (VIA Norfolk)

  2. Direct route BCN/VLC - Norfolk + an arbitrary to Chicago from POD Norfolk

The direct route on green: Barcelona/Valencia - Chicago, will be processed and shown on the rate finder as:

We are aware this might be confusing but as said we are constantly growing and improving our platform to provide you with the best service possible and are currently working on a new module that allows you to load and process all your tariffs with "all in rates" regardless of their origin/destination point or transshipments
