About Texting in Chariot

Automated Text Messages

Chariot simplifies communication by sending automated text messages on your behalf. This includes estimate reminders and notifications when visitors land on your website, configured according to your preferences.

Two-Way Texting

For more personalized interactions, leverage Chariot's shared text inbox. Similar to using a texting app on your phone, you can easily engage with customers in a mobile-friendly environment.

Texting Workflow

To text a customer, locate their job, go to actions, and select "Send Text." The text screen displays a list of customers on the left, and clicking on them reveals the text history, akin to smartphone messaging apps.

Responding to Customers

Engaging in conversations is straightforward. Compose a message, hit send, and if the customer responds, you'll be notified with a count of unread texts. Easily mark messages as unread for follow-up or team collaboration.

Managing Unread Texts

Spot unread texts with a dot indicator. Clicking into these messages reveals the content. Mark them as unread for later attention, maintaining a clear overview of pending interactions.

Navigation Shortcut

Efficiently navigate between text messages and associated jobs. Clicking the three lines in the bottom right provides a quick view of all customer jobs, allowing seamless transitions between conversations and job details.

The Messages Tab

Chariot's Messages tab gives you a unified view of all customer communication on a job — emails and texts in one place. It's available directly from the job page alongside Documents, Tasks, Automations, and more.

From the Messages tab you can:

  • Search message content across all emails and texts on the job

  • Filter by channel (Email or Text), direction (Sent or Received), or source (User Initiated or Automated)

  • Send emails and texts directly using your saved templates via the Send Email and Send Text buttons

  • View and open attachments from past messages

  • Easily see which messages were sent automatically by Chariot vs. manually by your team

Use the Source filter to distinguish automated messages from manual ones before reaching out — avoids sending duplicates. Check the Messages tab before a follow-up call to see the full communication history at a glance.
