This guide explains how to set up and use the Slack integration with ChatPRD, both for personal accounts and workspace/team accounts.

Setting Up Slack Integration

Personal Slack Account

  1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations in the ChatPRD interface.

  2. In the integrations section, locate the Slack card.

  3. Click the Connect Slack button.

  4. You'll be redirected to Slack's authorization page. Sign in with your Slack account.

  5. Select the workspace you want to connect and grant ChatPRD the necessary permissions.

  6. After successful authentication, you'll be redirected back to ChatPRD with the integration status showing as "Connected."

Configuring Your Slack Integration for Teams

Organizations have additional controls for their Slack integration. After connecting your Slack account to your team. In the Slack integration card, you'll see an option to select a default channel for notifications and how many other teammates are connected.

Using Slack with ChatPRD

Once connected, you can use Slack to:

Receive Notifications in Slack

Configure ChatPRD to send notifications to Slack when:

  1. New documents are shared with you

  2. Team members comment on your documents

Messaging @ChatPRD in Slack

With the integration enabled, you can use ChatPRD directly from Slack:

  1. Type @chatprd followed by your question or prompt in any Slack channel. You will have to add @chatprd to any channel you want it to reply in.

  2. ChatPRD will process your request and respond directly in the Slack thread.

  3. You can continue the conversation in the thread. This thread will also be linked in the ChatPRD app.

  4. You can also DM @chatPRD in private conversations.

Troubleshooting Slack Integration

If you encounter issues with the Slack integration:

  1. Connection Issues:

    • Check that your Slack account is properly connected in Settings > Integrations

    • If showing as "Not Connected," try reconnecting your account

    • Ensure you've granted all the required permissions

  2. Sharing Failures:

    • Verify you have permission to post in the selected channel

    • Check your internet connection

    • Ensure the ChatPRD app is still authorized in your Slack workspace

  3. Command Issues:

    • If the @chatprd command isn't working, check if the app is properly installed in your workspace and that you have connected ChatPRD to your Slack account in settings.

    • Try reinstalling the Slack app from the ChatPRD integrations page
