Starting a New Chat
From the dashboard, click the New Chat button in the sidebar.
You'll be presented with quickstart options
Or you can enter your chat question at the bottom of the page.
Press Enter or click the send button to start the conversation with ChatPRD.
Choosing Templates + Projects
Chat settings are configured by clicking the terminal button at the bottom left of the chat window, next to the attachments icon.
To set a template:
Click on the template dropdown in the chat settings widget.
Browse through available templates:
Default ChatPRD templates
Your custom templates
Shared team templates (on Team plans)
Select the template that best fits your current needs.
The selected template will guide ChatPRD's responses and document structure.
Selecting Projects
To associate your chat with a project:
Click on the project dropdown near the template selector.
Select an existing project.
Your chat will now be associated with the selected project and will appear in that project's view.
Uploading Files
You can upload files to provide context for your conversation:
Click the attachment icon (paperclip) in the chat input area.
Select files from your computer or choose from connected integrations:
Google Drive
Supported file types include:
Text documents (.txt, .md, .doc, .docx)
Spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx, .csv)
PDFs
Images (.jpg, .png)
Uploaded files will be processed and ChatPRD will be able to reference their contents.
Chatting with ChatPRD
Basic Conversation
Type your message in the input field at the bottom of the chat.
Press Enter or click the send button to send your message.
ChatPRD will respond based on your selected template and the context of the conversation.
Continue the conversation by sending additional messages.
Providing Feedback on Responses
After receiving a response from ChatPRD:
Use the thumbs up/down buttons to provide feedback on the quality of the response.
Optionally, provide specific feedback about what was helpful or could be improved.
This feedback helps improve future responses.
Switching to Document Mode
To edit the document being created in your conversation:
Click the Doc Mode button in the chat header.
The interface will split into two panels:
Chat history on the left
Document editor on the right
You can now directly edit the document while maintaining the chat context.
Toggle back to chat-only mode by clicking the Chat Mode button.
Managing Multiple Documents
In a single chat thread, you can create and manage multiple documents:
Use the document switcher in the chat header to navigate between documents.
Click + New Document to create an additional document in the same thread.
Each document maintains its own content while sharing the chat context.
