How do I enable tips?
To enable tips, go to Manage - Payment Settings and scroll down to the Tips section. Click the Settings button to enable tips.->
How does a customer add a tip?
After you enable tips in your payment settings, a second field will be shown on the payment page when a customer clicks to make a payment, so that they can add a tip.
How do I know if a customer added a tip to a payment?
The easiest way to know when a tip is added to a payment is by scheduling an automated message. Go to Manage -->Automated Messages, click New Automated Message and scroll down to the Tip Received group of templates; choose your preferred template and click Save. The automated message template is now active and will send an email when a tip is received on a booking.
The tip will also be shown in the payment details of the booking it was paid on. Just click on the booking, then click Edit on the Payments and Balance section of the booking:
In the Payment History on the right, the payment details will show a separate line item for the tip if one was given.
Do I get charged credit card processing fees on tips?
Yes, tips paid on a credit card will be subject to the payment processing fee, so the amount deposited will be a bit less than what is actually paid by the customer. You can pay out the tip to your staff separately - we do not handle that part in Check Cherry.
How can I find out how much I've received in tips from customers?
You can run a report that shows how much you've received in tips by going to Sales - Reporting and selecting the Tips report:
Tips will not be included in amounts shown on your revenue graphs on your dashboard or in your Payments History report under Sales --> Reporting.
