What info does the landlord get on Rent Day?
What info does the landlord get on Rent Day?

On your scheduled rent day, your landlord will receive two emails:

1) An email from Chexy confirming that payment is scheduled for 12 PM EST that day. This email will contain information such as

Tenant's name

Tenant's rental address

Deposit instructions including Interac security question/answer

At this point, the actual E-transfer has not yet been sent, therefore there will be no option to deposit yet.

2) An email from Interac (notify@payments.interac.ca) with the email subject line: “Chexy has sent you money”. At this point, the actual E-transfer has been sent. Your landlord will receive a standard Interac E-transfer notification outlining when the e-transfer is either ready to be deposited or has already been deposited via Interac auto-deposit.

Note 1: Very often, Landlords think the first email will include their rent payment and are confused when there is no deposit link however, please know that it is the 2nd email at 12PM EST onwards that will include the rent payment/deposit link.

Note 2: E-transfers expire 7 days after being received. If your e-transfer has expired, please raise a support ticket and we'll be happy to help.

Note 3: On your Landlord's itemized bank statement, they may see the source of your Chexy payment listed as "Zum Rails".

This is the name of the 3rd party payment processor we use to send your Interac E-transfer each month. Rest assured this is still coming directly from Chexy on your behalf!

If your landlord would like to quickly and easily confirm that the associated payment is your rent, they can reference the Custom Memo included in the Interac email notification or the Rent Day email sent directly from Chexy. These both contain personally identifying information making it clear the payment is your monthly rent payment.
