Nothing is directly required from your landlord for you to start paying your rent with Chexy via e-Transfer.
We'll charge your preferred payment method each month automatically and then pay your landlord on your behalf via Interac E-transfer, so if this is how your landlord is used to being paid, very little will change.
There *are* a few things we'd recommend giving your landlord a heads-up about to make sure your first rent payment goes as smoothly as possible.
1) We'll be sending both you and your landlord an email on rent day to let them know your rent is on the way (find out more here).
2) This email is NOT your rent payment, which will arrive directly from Interac after it is issued at 12pm EST. Once issued, Interac e-Transfers can take 6-8 hours to deliver and will be sent from the email address ‘notify@payments.interac.ca‘ with the email subject line: “Chexy has sent you money”.
If a landlord has auto-deposit enabled, this email will confirm the deposit is complete. However, if a landlord does NOT have auto-deposit enabled this email will contain the link necessary to follow the steps to complete the deposit.
3) The email will contain a memo with your address to ensure your landlord knows the rent is from you (you can also customize this memo if you prefer!)
4) On your Landlord's itemized bank statement, they will see the source of your Chexy payment listed as "Chexy".
