Deducting breaks with schedules makes actual vs schedule absolutely accurate.

It's important to note that Chronotek Pro does not automatically deduct lunch and rest breaks. Here are more things you need to know about breaks.

Why You Should Include Breaks on a Schedule

Stay with me on this one. We are simply deducting an expected break time from the scheduled duration so the actual vs. scheduled hours match up. This is very important for accurate profit management!

**We are NOT automatically deducting a break from an employee's time card. **

Employees still need to push the break button when taking their break and when coming back from their break.

How to Set Scheduled Breaks

If people take breaks you should also add those break deductions to their schedule duration. When building schedules, you can set deduction minutes for a meal and/or rest breaks into the schedule.

On 'Step 4' of the Add Schedule Wizard, there are two fields for “Meal” and “Unpaid” break. The breaks will then be deducted from the Total schedule duration. The scheduled In and Out times remain intact so people know when to work and when to leave.

Editing a Time Card to Apply a Scheduled Break

If employees take their break but fail to clock out for it or use the break button, you can easily apply the break to the employee's time card.

There is a “Schedule Breaks” collapsible panel when viewed in the edit time card window. Open the panel, apply the appropriate breaks and save.

Seeing Schedules with Breaks Applied

On the Schedules screen, a “Breaks” icon will appear in any applicable cells that have breaks. The duration shown on the bottom row of the cell will include the break deduction(s). So a 12a-8a schedule with a 30-minute meal break and a 15-minute unpaid break will show as follows:
