Ciclo Studio is designed to open by itself when the studio screen powers on, so staff never have to find it in the apps menu. If it isn't doing that — or Android TV won't let you select it as the home app — try the settings below.
Android TV behaves differently across brands and models, so no single fix works everywhere. Work through these in order.
First, try these two settings
These worked in our own testing and are the quickest thing to check. You don't necessarily need to win the "home app" prompt to get autostart working.
Allow Ciclo Studio to "Display over other apps".
Go to Settings → Apps → Special app access → Display over other apps, find Ciclo Studio, and turn it on. This lets the app bring itself to the front on startup.Turn off "Quick Start" in Device Preferences.
Go to Settings → Device Preferences and switch Quick Start off.
With Quick Start on, the TV only sleeps instead of powering down, so it never runs a fresh startup and Ciclo Studio is never relaunched. With it off, the TV fully restarts each time, which gives Ciclo Studio the chance to start on its own. The TV takes a little longer to turn on — that's the trade-off.
Menu names vary between TV brands and Android versions, so the wording on your device may differ slightly. This combination isn't guaranteed on every device, but it's the first thing worth trying.
About the "select a home app" prompt
During setup, Android TV shows a system notification asking you to choose a home app — the app it opens on startup. Choosing Ciclo Studio → Always (Step 10 of the install guide) is the tidiest way to get the studio screen up automatically.
If you missed the prompt on first open
You don't need to reinstall. You can bring the choice back in two ways:
Option A — from inside the app (easiest)
Open Ciclo Studio.
Select Set Ciclo Studio as default launcher.
When the system notification appears, choose CicloStudio → Always.
Option B — clear the current default, then re-choose
Go to Settings → Apps → See all apps.
Select the app that is currently the home screen (often named Android TV Home, TV Home or Google TV Home).
Choose Clear defaults (on some devices this sits under Open by default).
Press the Home button on your remote. The chooser reappears — pick Ciclo Studio → Always.
If the remote won't select Ciclo Studio
Give the remote a moment and press in different directions. The selection can lag. Press up/down/left/right a few times to see which option is actually highlighted, then confirm on Ciclo Studio — Always.
Switch the remote to mouse / cursor mode. Many Android TV remotes have a pointer mode — turn it on and click directly on Ciclo Studio — Always.
Plug a USB mouse into the box. Connect a mouse to the Android TV box (or screen) and click Ciclo Studio — Always directly. This is the most reliable way past a stuck remote.
Restart and try again. Unplug the box from power, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, let it fully boot, then return to the "select a home app" screen.
If nothing works
Some Android TV and Google TV devices — particularly TVs where Android TV is the built-in operating system — restrict changing the default home app entirely. On these, the system may not let any third-party app become the launcher, no matter which input you use, and autostart may not be possible.
This isn't a fault with your device or with Ciclo Studio, and it doesn't affect classes at all. You'll just need to open Ciclo Studio from the apps menu when the screen powers on: Settings → Apps → See all apps → Ciclo Studio → Open. Everything else works exactly as normal.
