If you're a New South Wales (NSW) public school or an approved early childhood centre with the NSW Department of Education using ClassCover, you’ll notice a verification tick next to some teachers’ names. This status helps you quickly identify whether a teacher has been approved and verified to work in NSW Department of Education schools and centres.

This verification system is integrated directly with the NSW Department of Education and provides a reliable, up-to-date view of a teacher’s accreditation and training status.

What the Different Verification Statuses Mean

✔️ Green Tick – Fully Verified

The teacher is fully verified and approved to work in NSW public schools and approved early childhood centres. This means their mandatory training and accreditation are complete and up to date.

🟠 Orange Tick – Partially Verified

The teacher is approved to teach but has incomplete, unmatched, or expired mandatory training. Schools can still choose to book teachers with an orange tick at their own discretion.

❌ Grey Tick – Not Verified

This applies to support staff or non-accredited roles (e.g. SLSOs, education assistants), or in cases where a teacher’s accreditation has lapsed.

⚠️ Grey Tick – Not Matched

The information entered in ClassCover doesn’t match the NSW Department of Education’s records. Teachers are prompted to review and correct their details to update their status.

Who Can See the Verification Tick?

Both schools and teachers can view verification statuses. If a teacher works at your school, you’ll see the tick beside their name on your list. Teachers can also see their own verification status on their profile.

Keeping Verification Up to Date

Teachers are responsible for maintaining their mandatory training via MyPL. Once training is updated, it can take up to 72 hours for the verification status to reflect changes on ClassCover.

If you see a teacher with a 'Not Matched’ status, the teacher may need to update their details on ClassCover to align with DoE records. You can let them know to double-check their NESA ID and date of birth in their profile.
