If you're a casual working in NSW public schools or approved early childhood centres, you'll notice a verification tick next to your name on ClassCover. This tick is visible to both you and the schools you're connected with.

The tick reflects your approval and verification status, based on your accreditation and mandatory training as recorded by the NSW Department of Education. It’s your responsibility to ensure that your details are up to date and that your verification remains valid.

To help you navigate your setup and stay job-ready, be sure to check out the ClassCover Teacher Starter Pack – it’s packed with helpful info to get you up to speed.

Why Verification Matters

Schools use verification ticks to help them make fast and informed decisions when booking casuals. A green tick gives them confidence that you're fully accredited and ready to work. In fact, many NSW public schools prioritise – or only book – teachers with a green tick.

Staying verified helps you:

  • Get booked faster and more often

  • Show schools that you're fully compliant with Department requirements

  • Avoid delays or removal from school lists

What the Different Verification Symbols Mean

Your verification status is based on your NESA accreditation and mandatory training via MyPL. Here's a summary of each status:

✔️ Green Tick – Fully Verified

You’re approved to teach in NSW public schools and approved early childhood centres. All mandatory training and details have been successfully matched.

🟠 Orange Tick – Partially Verified

You're approved to teach, but some mandatory training is either incomplete, expired, or hasn't matched yet. You may still be booked by schools at their discretion.

❌ Grey Tick – Not Verified

You either aren’t an accredited teacher (e.g. you're working as a SLSO or education assistant), or your NESA accreditation has lapsed.

⚠️ Grey Tick – Not Matched

The information in your ClassCover profile doesn’t match the NSW Department of Education's records. Please check your NESA ID and date of birth to ensure they are correct.

Keeping Your Status Up to Date

You are responsible for maintaining your verification status. Be sure to:

  • Keep your NESA accreditation current

  • Complete all required training in MyPL

  • Ensure your details on ClassCover are accurate

It can take up to 72 hours for your status to update after completing training or updating your profile.
