A rule type you expected isn't in the Create Rule dialog, a card won't open, or a rule you created doesn't show up in the moderation wizard. This article covers the usual reasons and what to do about each.
When to use this
You can't find a rule type when you create a rule.
Clicking a rule type opens a message instead of the rule form.
A rule shows Unknown as its rule type on the Rules page.
A rule doesn't appear in the Select Rules step of the wizard.
In the Create Rule dialog
Check the All / Images / Videos filter. With Images selected, video rule types are hidden, and the other way around. Select All to see everything.
Pro rule types need a Pro plan. If your plan doesn't include one, clicking it opens Unlock Moderation Pro - click Contact Us to add it to your plan.
Lab rule types give early access to newer moderation technology. Clicking one opens This feature is in Lab - click Contact Us if you want to try it.
Coming Soon rule types can't be used yet.
Retired rule types don't appear at all - for example, the earlier version of Video Content Detection that matched a list of labels.
On the Rules page
The rule type shows Unknown. The rule was built on a rule type that has been retired. Its settings can't be edited anymore, and it can't be used in new runs or automations. Create a new rule with a current rule type - for example, a new Video Content Detection rule that describes the requirement in words. You can then delete the old rule; past results stay in your runs.
The rule is inactive. The Status filter may be hiding it. Turn it back on with the Active/Inactive toggle to use it in runs and policies.
In the moderation wizard
Only active rules are listed in Select Rules.
Only rules for the asset type you chose are listed. Image rules don't appear when you moderate videos, and video rules don't appear when you moderate images. The same goes for policies.
The run won't start if one of its rules uses a rule type your plan no longer includes. Remove that rule from the run, or contact Cloudinary to add the rule type back to your plan. The same applies when an automation is restarted.
When importing rules
An imported rule that uses a rule type your account can't use is listed in the import summary with the reason Not included in your plan or Rule type is not available in this environment. See "Import and export rules".
Good to know: ongoing moderation (automations) is a Pro feature too. Without it, you can still run one-time moderation with any rule type your plan includes.
For every rule type and its settings, see "Image rule types and how to use them" and "Video rule types and how to use them".
