Macros & Calories
How do I get more fat into a client's meal plan?
How do I get more fat into a client's meal plan?
Set the macro split to a higher fat percentage before generating the plan - for example a Low Carb split like P50/C25/F25. The meal planner will automatically suggest recipes with more fat based on the split you choose.
Why did not the calories update after I changed the plan?
Why did not the calories update after I changed the plan?
It can take a moment to recalculate. Refresh the page if the numbers haven't updated after a few seconds.
Can I save my own macro split as a preset?
Can I save my own macro split as a preset?
Yes. When creating or editing a meal plan, click + Custom macro split, define your percentages, and save it. It will be available as a preset for all future plans.
Why does every recipe not match my exact macro split?
Why does every recipe not match my exact macro split?
The macro split you set (for example 40/30/30) is a target Coachway aims for, not a guarantee that every recipe can be forced into those exact numbers.
Every recipe has a natural macro profile that comes from its ingredients. Some meals are naturally higher in carbs or protein and simply don't have enough fat to adjust without changing the dish itself. Take a meal built from rice, vegetables and chicken: it's naturally high in protein and carbs and fairly low in fat. To push it to 40/30/30, the system would have to add a lot of oil, nuts or avocado, and at that point it isn't really the same recipe anymore.
This is also where Coachway works differently from some other tools. Some systems scale ingredients up and down blindly to hit the numbers, which can produce meals that match the macros on paper but make no sense in real life.
Coachway keeps the meal realistic. It gets as close to your target as it sensibly can while keeping the recipe something a person would actually want to eat. So the macro split guides the plan, it does not override what a recipe naturally is.
Can I assign only ingredients (not full recipes/meals) in a meal plan?
Can I assign only ingredients (not full recipes/meals) in a meal plan?
No ingredient-only assign today. Workaround: create simple single-item "recipes" (one ingredient each) and put those in the meal plan.
Why my client’s nutrition rings are not filling when they have reached their macros?
Why my client’s nutrition rings are not filling when they have reached their macros?
An assigned meal plan does not set the targets the app measures against. Set the targets separately: open the client → Settings → Nutrition → under Weekly targets → enter protein/carbs/fat/kcal → Save plan. After that, rings fill as food is logged and Development shows intake vs targets.
I changed the macro split but protein barely dropped. Why?
I changed the macro split but protein barely dropped. Why?
Changing the % scales the recipes towards the new target, but a protein-rich recipe cannot become low protein without changing the dish. Check that Recipe matching is set to Scale to targets and that no recipes are locked.
Then swap the most protein-heavy recipes (✕ on the recipe, then + Add a meal) so the planner suggests ones that fit, or create a new plan with ⋯ Actions → Create new plan and set the split from the start. If the client logs food, also update their Weekly targets under Settings → Nutrition, since those don't follow the meal plan.
How do I make the plan's calorie range narrower?
How do I make the plan's calorie range narrower?
The range is the gap between the lowest and highest recipe combination across the meals. To tighten it: use Scale to targets, unlock any locked recipes, replace recipes that sit far above or below the meal target, and use fewer recipe options per meal. Some recipes cannot scale perfectly, so the range may not land exactly where you want.
Can two clients share a plan if one eats one meal fewer?
Can two clients share a plan if one eats one meal fewer?
Yes. Each meal is a % of the daily calories, so removing a meal spreads its calories over the others. On the client who skips the meal: Nutrition → Edit Plan, lock the recipes in the main meals, remove the extra meal and lower the total by that meal's kcal. If the main meals still moved, adjust the % instead (e.g. 2000 kcal at 25/30/30/15 becomes 1700 kcal at 29/35.5/35.5 without the snack).

My client does not like a recipe - can I swap it?
My client does not like a recipe - can I swap it?

What do the diet tags mean?
What do the diet tags mean?
Tags like Vegetarian, Pescetarian, High Protein, PCOS, Halal, Kosher, and Contains Nuts are applied automatically based on the recipe's ingredients and your client's prefilled preferences. Use them to quickly check if a recipe fits your client's dietary needs.
Why does the shopping list show pieces or ounces instead of grams?
Why does the shopping list show pieces or ounces instead of grams?
The shopping list copies each ingredient exactly as it is written in the recipe - it does not convert units. If a recipe lists a vegetable as 2 pcs, the list shows 2 pcs. To get grams on the list, define the ingredients in grams in the meal plan recipe itself. Clients can also click on the item and edit the amount and text manually - but this is a only text, so nothing is converted automatically.
Why do avoided ingredients still appear in generated meal plans?
Why do avoided ingredients still appear in generated meal plans?
Preferences match specific ingredient entries. “Egg yolks” does not block recipes that use whole eggs (and similar splits exist for other foods).
Open the client’s Dietary information (Info) while building the plan, confirm every relevant variant is avoided, and spot-check the generated recipes.
Why can’t I save a recipe?
Why can’t I save a recipe?
A recipe needs at least one preparation step before it will save. If Save stays disabled or nothing happens, open Steps and add one (even a short “Mix and serve”), then save again.
If the recipe still don't save and no fields are missing, reach out to us in the chat.
Can I permanently change a Coachway system recipe?
Can I permanently change a Coachway system recipe?
No. Edits to a system recipe create a personal copy in your library (system originals stay unchanged). This keeps coach and platform recipes separate. When building a meal plan, you can filter to use only your own recipes.
Where do hearted / favorite recipes show up in the client app?
Where do hearted / favorite recipes show up in the client app?

A scanned product shows the wrong calories or macros. Can it be fixed?
A scanned product shows the wrong calories or macros. Can it be fixed?
Yes. Clients can't edit products in the food database themselves, but we can correct them.
Right now: the client logs the food manually with the values from the package, so today's log is correct.
To fix the product for everyone: write to us in the chat with the barcode number and a photo of the front and back of the package, so we can see all the nutrition values. We'll update the product in the database.
