Coachway has a built-in shopping list, and it is created by your clients. No setup is required from the coach side, and shopping lists aren’t visible on the client’s profile in the platform. Your role as a coach is to provide the meal plan and recipes. Once a client has recipes assigned to them, they can easily turn those into a shopping list themselves.
Where the shopping list lives
In the Food tab, under the basket icon in the top left. The list stays there between sessions, so a client can build it across the week and take it to the shop when they are ready.
Two ways your client fills the list
From a meal plan. Open a recipe in the meal plan and tap the basket icon next to Log this meal. All the ingredients from that recipe go onto the list. Repeat for as many recipes as you want to shop for.
Ingredient by ingredient. Clients can also add single items directly to the list, for anything that is not part of a recipe - washing-up liquid, coffee, whatever else is needed that week.
One basket icon opens the list, the basket icon inside a recipe adds its ingredients, and the list groups itself for you.
Using the list in the shop
Everything sorts itself by grocery category, so the list matches the way you walk through a shop. Use the categories at the top to filter, and ✅ items off as you go.
To take a recipe back off the list, tap Edit on the From your recipes card and delete it.
Good to know
The shopping list is client-only. Coaches cannot see, build, or send a client's shopping list. If a client asks you to check their list, ask them to send a screenshot.
Units on the shopping list
The shopping list does not convert units automatically. Every ingredient is added to the list exactly as it is written in the recipe - if the recipe says 2 pcs of tomato, the list shows 2 pcs; if it says 200 g, the list shows 200 g. The same goes for ounces and other units.
Your client can tap an item on the list and adjust both the number and the text. For example changing "2 pcs" to "270 g".
Just be aware this is a only text field: changing the number or writing grams instead of pieces does not convert anything automatically. The list simply shows what is typed.
Grams vs ounces / unit preference
As noted above, the shopping list does not convert units automatically. Ingredients keep the units from the recipe (grams, ounces, pcs, and so on).
