What your clients see in the Coachway app

A quick overview of the client app so you know exactly what your clients see and how they interact with their plan.

Written by Malene Malmkjær

When you activate a client, they get access to the Coachway client app on their phone. This is where they follow their plan, log progress, complete check-ins, and send you messages.

The app is available in the App Store and Google Play Store.

Here is what they see👇

Overview

The first thing a client sees when they open the app is their overview. It gives them a quick view of what is relevant for that day - their workout, their meals, any unread messages from you, and a reminder if a check-in is due.

Workouts

Clients see the training program you have assigned them. Each session shows the exercises in order with video demonstrations, set and rep targets, and any notes and alternatives you have added per exercise.

Between each set, the rest time you have configured shows clearly in the workout flow. Clients can tap to open it, adjust the countdown, or add more time if they need it (no need to restart the timer).

After the session, you will see the actual rest your client took between sets on the workout overview.

When they complete a workout, they can log their sets, reps, and weights directly in the app.

Food

If you have assigned a meal plan, clients see their daily meals with full recipe details - ingredients, portions, and cooking instructions. They can also see their daily macros and calories, unless you have chosen to hide calories for that client.

You can hide calories and macros per client from the browser: open the client → Settings → Nutrition → Nutrition visibility. This does not hide ingredient amounts. Grams still show on each ingredient, also in brackets after household measures like tsp, tbsp or pieces, and cannot be turned off yet.

If a meal does not suit them, they can swap it for an alternative from within the app.

Check-ins

When a check-in form is due, clients receive a reminder and complete it directly in the Chat functionality in the app. Depending on how you have set up the form, this might include logging their weight, submitting progress photos, rating their energy and sleep, and answering any custom questions you have added.

Clients can also submit an extra check-in anytime without waiting for the next scheduled one. They can do this from Profile → New Check-in.

Note that it is also possible to:

Track Between Check-ins

Clients who want to track more frequently - for example daily weigh-ins - can do so from Profile → Register Measurement without needing to complete a full check-in.

Progress

Clients have a progress section where they can see their development over time. Weight, body measurements and steps each sit on the front page with their own detail view, and anything the client tracks shows up there, including any custom measurements you have created.

Chat

Clients can message you directly from the app. They can send text messages, voice notes, and images. Messages you send from your side appear here in real time.

Tip: As a coach you can define settings for the Chat - e.g. max duration of video and voice clip, or if the chat should be enabled or not. Do this in Settings tab → General → Messaging.

Vault

Any documents, PDFs, or videos you send to a client’s vault are accessible here. This is useful for welcome guides, training tips, nutrition resources, or anything you want them to be able to come back to.

A note on language

The client app adapts to the language you have set for each client. A Norwegian client sees everything in Norwegian, a German client in German, and so on - regardless of what language you use on your end. You do not need to do anything extra for this to work.
