App access after a client is ended

How to control whether clients keep app access when you end them, and how to override it for a single client.

Written by Malene Malmkjær

Whether clients keep app access after they are ended is controlled by an account setting. You set it once and it applies to every client by default.

⚠️ This is not the same as ending a payment plan. Cancelling a payment plan does not remove app access, the two are tracked separately. See What Happens When You Cancel a Payment Plan.

Where to find it

Go to Settings → Account. Find Client Defaults and scroll a bit down, then you will see the option App access When a client is ended.

Your three options

  1. Revoke immediately: the client loses app access the moment you end them.

  2. Grace period: the client keeps access for a set number of days after being ended. Remember to fill in the Grace period field just below, which is where you set the number of days.

  3. Keep access indefinitely: the client keeps access until you remove it manually.

What the client sees

When app access is removed, the client sees a "your access has expired" message the next time they open the app. Worth keeping in mind before you choose Revoke immediately, especially for clients you expect to return.

Overriding it for a single client

The account setting is the default for everyone, but it is not the only control you have. You can still remove or restore access for an individual client from their Payment tab.

Related client access actions

  • Paused clients: you can choose whether they keep app access while paused. See Client Management FAQs.

  • If a client sees "access has ended": open their Payment tab and use Grant app access when restoring access (same FAQ).
