How payments work in Coachway

An overview of how your clients pay you, and where to find each part. Start here if you're new to payments.

Where the money goes

Your clients pay straight into your own Stripe account. Coachway never holds your money. Coachway takes 2.4% of each payment, and Stripe takes its own fee. Both are deducted automatically before the money reaches you.

From product to payment in five steps

  1. Connect Stripe. You do this once. See Connect Stripe and turn on Apple Pay and Klarna.

  2. Create your products. A product is a template for one of your coaching packages, e.g. "Online coaching, DKK 900 a month". See Create and edit a payment product.

  3. Send an offer. When you add a client, you pick a product and can adjust the price, start date and start fee for that client only. See Add a new client with a payment offer, or for a client who's already in Coachway, Add, change or cancel a payment plan.

  4. The client accepts and pays. The client gets an invite, creates their account, accepts your offer and adds their payment details. See What your client sees, from invite to payment.

  5. Payments run by themselves. You can follow everything in the client's Payment tab. See The Payment tab: overview, history and card details.

Four things to keep apart

Coachway tracks four things separately for each client. That gives you full control, but it also means a change to one does not change the others.

What it tells you

Where you see it

Coaching status

Whether the client is Pending, Active, Paused or Ended

The client's profile

Offer

Whether the client has accepted your offer: Offer Pending or Offer Accepted

The Payment tab

Payments

Whether payment is set up and invoices are paid, e.g. Pending Setup while the client hasn't added their payment details

The Payment tab and Payment History

App access

Whether the client can open the app, and until when

The Payment tab

Two things that often surprise coaches:

  • An accepted offer is not a payment. The client also has to add their payment details. Until then, the Payment tab shows Pending Setup.

  • Cancelling a plan does not remove app access. If the client should not use the app anymore, end their access separately.
