Skip a check-in or set the first check-in date

Pause check-ins for a client who is sick or on holiday, and choose when their first check-in should be.

Written by Malene Malmkjær

Sometimes a client can’t check in. They are ill, on holiday or just having a week off. Rather than leaving a missed check-in that drags down their stats and keeps them on your Missing check-ins list, you can skip it.

Skip a check-in

You will find the Skip check-in on [date] button in two places:

  • At the client’s check-in overviewClick it, and that check-in is skipped. If you skipped by mistake, click Undo.

  • Under the client’s Client settings

Which check-ins you can skip

You can skip the current check-in or an upcoming one. Check-ins that are already in the past can’t be skipped.

What happens when a check-in is skipped

A skipped check-in shows as a light blue Skipped in the client’s check-in overview, so you can always see that it was planned and why it’s empty.

For the client:

  • The check-in card does not show up in their app

  • They do not get the check-in reminder

For you:

  • The skipped check-in does not count toward their completion rate or streak, so a holiday does not make it look like the client has dropped off

  • The client disappears from the Missing check-ins filter for that check-in

The next check-in after the skipped one follows the client’s normal schedule.

Set the date of the first check-in

By default, a new client’s first check-in lands on your usual check-in weekday in the week they are added. That can be earlier than you want, for example if the client has not started yet.

Instead, you can choose the date of the first check-in yourself:

  • When you create the client: set the first check-in date during setup

  • For an existing client: open the client’s Client settings and change it there

Before that date, the client does not have to check in. After it, check-ins follow the frequency and weekday you have set for them.

Good to know

Skipping vs. changing the schedule. Skip is for a single week off. If a client needs a longer break, or a different rhythm, change their frequency under Client settings, or pause the client.

👉 See How Check-in is designed for frequencies and schedules.

👉 See Pause a client and manage app access for longer breaks.

The client can still check in manually. Skipping removes the scheduled check-in, but the client can always send a manual check-in from Profile → New Check-in if they want to.
