Fanbase is the core database for all your Community fan datapoints. From Fanbase, you can create custom Fan Groups, review detailed Fan profiles, and track fan growth over time. This section will review the main how-to's and some use case ideas.
Fan Signal Types
There are 5 types of fan signals in Fanbase. By default, "All Fans" is any fan who has done at least one of these things in their lifetime.
Sound usage: the fan made an Instagram or TikTok video using one of the artist's sounds. Note: we will only pull this data for Unlocked songs. If you have the artist's most recent releases and popular tracks Unlocked, that should be sufficient for this signal type.
Story mention: the fan mentioned the artist in their Instagram story. You must have Instagram authenticated to leverage this signal type.
Comments: the fan commented on an artist's Instagram post. You must have Instagram authenticated to leverage this signal type.
Drop sign-up: the fan signed up for one of the artist's Drop. This means they have opted-in to receive promotional outreach through email, SMS or WhatsApp. We automatically remove unsubscribed fans from Fanbase.
Songs streamed: the fan signed up for a Pre-Save and listened to one of the artist's tracks. This is expressed as the number of listens to any song by the artist. You must run Pre-Save Drops with Cobrand to access this signal.
Cobrand designates fans as 1st Party or 3rd Party. 1st Party is a fan who provided consent to receive promotional material by signing up for a Drop. You can also import 1st Party fans, although we require that you validate they have provided marketing consent. 3rd Party fans are fans who engage in sound usage, story mentions, and comments. You cannot direct message 3rd Party fans from the Cobrand app.
Fan Groups
The best way to use Fanbase is to segment fans further into strategic groups, based on what is important for your artist. Since Fan Groups are set at the artist level, customizing Fan roups on one artist won't impact the set you have on another.
Cobrand has 5 pre-made groups you can explore, including Recent Fans, Influential Fans, and Superfans. Click the edit icon to view the parameters we set as the default. From here, you can change the parameters, add additional ones, or delete the group entirely. You can set parameter relationships to "and", "or", and "exclude".
You can also make unlimited new groups. The more fan signal types you unlock, the more versatile and useful this feature can be for finding fans based on descriptive signals (city, age, gender) or engagement events (sound usage, sign-ups, etc).
Fan Group Analysis
Once you have a Fan Group, you can use the Analytics tab to view the breakout by country, and also view total Engagement by type, plus Age and Gender estimates.
Country, Age and Gender values come from two sources: Drops and social profiles. Cobrand will prioritize data obtained from a Drop first, and thereafter, fallback to the country of the social profile, and the age and gender estimates we generate based on their posted content. When Cobrand cannot make a confident estimation on the age and gender, the values remain as "Unknown".
Fan Profiles
If you click Fan Lists within a Fan Group, you can view individual Fans who are part of the group. You can sort this list by column, filter on Fan Type or Country, or search a Fan by name. If you scroll to the right, you will see all signals represented in the table, plus Follower count.
Hover on the fan row and click Fan Details button to view their social profile. From here, you can add tags and save the fan to your Creator Database. Note: if they signed up for a Drop without a social profile, this will not be available.
You will notice that the raw Drop sign-ups are often higher than the count in Fanbase, especially if you've run many Drops. This is because Cobrand de-duplicates fan profiles so that you can see holistic engagement per fan.
For example, if someone makes an Instagram reel using a sound, then comments on that artist's post a month later, then signs up for their Pre-Save where she also adds her Instagram profile handle, this will all reflect in one fan profile.
Importing Fans
To import existing fan data, click the Import Fans button at the top of the page. You can upload any CSV, and then choose from the available options how you wish to map each column (we will show you a sample subset in the view). Once you have mapped your columns, you will be asked to verify that all imported fans have provided consent to receive promotional material for the artist.
How can I use Fanbase?
This can be used in a variety of ways depending on your priorities! Here are some ideas:
Identify creators with high followers who are organically engaging with your artist. You can save their profile or add them to a Promotion, the same way you would via Creator Search
Identify and invite Superfans to regional tour stops and events
Track recent fan-growth acquisition by type, and break down by age and region to better understand where the growth is coming from
Find out which regions are growing the fastest across a custom set of signal types and thresholds, to be considered for further marketing and activations
Identify your top listeners over a period, who may not be the most active on social accounts, for fan loyalty rewards and engagement
Common questions and answers
Why are the total fan counts in the tiles different from the data below?
By default, we have a 30-day lookback window on the Fan Analytics and Fan Lists for each Fan Group. If you set it to All Time, the values will match the totals in the tiles.
Why do I have 0 fans, or a very low number of fans?
We only pull in Sound Usage on songs that are Unlocked. If you have not set up your Catalog yet, and do not have Instagram authenticated or active Drops it is expected that Fanbase will be empty.
Why does my 1P signups not match the number of signups I have in the Drops feature?
Fanbase de-duplicates Drop sign-ups. You will almost always see fewer unique count in Fanbase than you do in the raw sign-ups list.
How can I directly message a Fan Group?
To message a fan, navigate to Message Fans tab. You will only be able to message 1P fans in this view. Please note, some event-type interactions available in Fanbase cannot currently be incorporated as targeting parameters in Messaging. Specifically: # of mentions, engagements, streams or sign-ups, or event timestamps.
How can I export my Fan Groups?
Cobrand does not support CSV downloads from Fanbase. However, you can download any Drop sign-up from Cobrand directly from the Drops Sign-Ups tab.
