Shopify Store Integration and Use Cases

How to connect your Shopify store to your Cobrand Fanbase

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Integrating merchandise signals into your Fanbase is a great way to build up your holistic 1st party Fan Profiles. Once complete, you will see all historical and future orders made by anyone using the same email address in your Fanbase. The benefit of viewing this data is Cobrand is the additional context you get from a Fan Profile perspective - including their Story Mentions, Comments, Drop sign-ups, and more.

To complete this process, you must be an Admin on the Shopify store.

Step 1. Download the Cobrand Shopify App

First, download the Cobrand app. You will use this to make the connection to our main platform. You will not need to revisit this app for anything afterwards. This is only required during the set-up.

  • It does not cost $5 to download the app. Please ignore this. The app download is free to download for all users.

Click Install, and log in to your Shopify account.

Step 2. Authenticate Cobrand Access

From your Shopify admin, navigate to the Cobrand App's "About" page. Scroll to the bottom, and click the following button: "Click here to connect your Shopify store with Cobrand".

You will then get a popup which asks you to confirm: "click to connect to Cobrand".

Step 3. Activate in Cobrand

Once you have connected to Cobrand using the app, return to the Cobrand website. Navigate back to Fanbase > Profile Settings > Shopify (where you started). Click the "Refresh" button.

Once you click "Refresh", it will take up to 5 minutes to sync with Shopify. Once the sync is complete, you will see the following success screen:

If your screen is loading for more than 5 minutes, please reach out to us through our Intercom Chat and we can help.

How you can use Shopify via Cobrand

Now that you are synced, you can integrate Shopify into your Fanbase and Drop pages.

Track Shopify using Fanbase Groups

You will now see purchase data pull into the Fan List section for your existing Fan Groups, for any fans who have purchased using the same email. Cobrand will pull in all historical purchases, and any future purchases, for that profile. Using the Fan Lists view, you can sort on Last Purchase, Total Orders, and Total Spent in any Fan Group.

You can also create Spotify-specific fan groups, or integrate Spotify purchase signals into your criteria for fan groups, like Superfans. When combined with a focused lookback window and other in-focus signals, this is is a helpful way to isolate recent and meaningfully engaged fans.

Add Shopify products to your Drops

In addition to integrating Shopify into your Fanbase, you can also add products seamlessly to your Drops. You can do this on new Drops, or add this into any existing ones you already have live.

Open up the Drop (new or existing) and head to the Content (Optional) section. Click ADd Section, and select Shopify Products.

By default, the section will be labelled "Shopify product" but you can click the Edit icon to rename it. Click Add Shopify Product to view and add the SKUs from your store.

If you add more than 3 products, they will automatically render as a carousel. You can change the order by dragging the products across the list.

As with other Section components in the Content section, you can click the eye icon to hide the section from the public facing drop. This can be useful if you wish to set everything up ahead of a target date.

  • To edit any product information like price or title, please do so in the native Shopify app.

When a fan click "Buy" the link will open to the Shopify store page.
