If someone signs up for SMS, can I message them on WhatsApp later (or vice versa)?

No. Consent must be granted per messaging channel, just like SMS and email. An SMS opt-in does not grant permission to send WhatsApp messages, and vice versa.

Can I import fans who signed up for WhatsApp on another platform?

Yes, as long as you have explicit proof of opt-in for WhatsApp. SMS opt-in does not count as WhatsApp opt-in. Before uploading any data, you’ll be required to certify that you have valid opt-in consent for all messaging channels included.

How can fans unsubscribe from WhatsApp messages?

Unsubscribing works the same way as SMS. Fans can reply STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE directly in WhatsApp.

If I’m running WhatsApp from my artist’s business account on a mobile device, can I transfer it to Cobrand?

Yes. Follow our WhatsApp set-up instructions to transfer the account. Note that a WhatsApp account cannot be active in two places at the same time.

Do I need a Meta account to use WhatsApp in Cobrand?

Yes. You must have a Meta Business Account to set up and run WhatsApp messaging in Cobrand.

I have a Meta account but no WhatsApp profile for my artist. Can I still use WhatsApp?

Yes. During the Cobrand set-up process, you’ll have the option to create a WhatsApp profile for the artist. Please note that creating a new profile and completing Meta’s verification process can add up to two additional weeks to your overall setup time.

How do I get my WhatsApp account verified?

Meta offers two types of verification:

  • Standard verification
    This is completed automatically when you finish the WhatsApp setup in Cobrand. It allows you to send up to 100,000 messages per day, but does not include a verification badge.

  • Meta Verified for Businesses
    This is a paid subscription purchased directly through Meta and includes a verified badge.

What types of media can I send via WhatsApp?

You can send images and videos, but audio files are not supported. This limitation is set by Meta.

If I have multiple phone numbers, can I choose which one WhatsApp uses?

Yes. You’ll be able to select the phone number during the setup process.

Please note: The selected number cannot be changed later. If you plan to use a specific number for WhatsApp, make sure it’s fully configured in your Cobrand account before starting setup
