Steps to organizing rubrics

Rubrics on the My Rubrics page can be sorted alphabetically using the "Rubric name". While there’s no drag-and-drop or folder organization (yet), you can control the order using the built-in sort and strategic naming.

Sort Rubrics Alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A)

To reorder rubrics, use the arrow icon next to “Rubric name”.

This toggles the list between:

  • A–Z (ascending)

  • Z–A (descending)

You can find this under the 'My Rubrics' tab in the left-hand menu.

Rename Rubrics to Group by Class or Type

Since rubrics aren't tied to a specific class, you can keep them organized by naming them consistently. For example:

Rubric Name

Purpose

6311 – Grammar & Syntax

Keeps all 6311 rubrics together

6361 – Argument Rubric

Groups with other 6361s

01 – General Feedback

Sorts to the top

ZZ – Temp Rubric

Sorts to the bottom

This helps them stay grouped, regardless of the sorting order (A–Z or Z–A).

Clean Up: Delete or Rename Unused Rubrics

Rubrics are reusable and independent from your assignments. You can safely delete or rename them without affecting past work.

Rename a Rubric

  1. Go to My Rubrics.

  2. Click the Rubric name.

  3. On the Edit Rubric page that opens, rename it using your prefix system (e.g. course code).

  4. Save your changes.

Delete Unused Assignments or Rubrics

  • Hover over an assignment and click the trash icon to delete it.

  • To delete a rubric, click the ⋮ menu and select Delete Rubric.

This keeps your workspace clean, especially if you’re handling rubrics across multiple classes or course sections.
