Change payment method - An improved user experience

Elevate your user experience by seamlessly updating your payment method should your initial transaction face any hiccups. For instance, if a credit card payment is declined, we will provide a link for the customer to switch to a different credit or debit card.

Please note that if your initial payment was made with a card, you can easily change to another card. However, we're sorry to say that if your payment was made through PayPal, bank transfer, Klarna, or Affirm, changing to a different payment method isn't an option currently. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause and thank you for your understanding.

How can the payment method be changed?

If a payment cannot be processed, we will promptly notify the vendor via email. This email will include a link and detailed instructions on how to update the payment method. Simply click on the link provided: https://www.copecart.com/us/orders/xxxxxx/payment_method and enter the order ID instead of the XXXXX.

To ensure a smooth process, we recommend using the link in an incognito window of your browser, as it may not function properly in a regular window. For example, if your order ID is abc1234, the new payment link will appear as follows: https://www.copecart.com/us/orders/abc1234/payment_method.

The customer doesn't need to inform a vendor about the change to another payment method. The vendor is automatically informed when a customer makes the next payment.


FAQ

Why can't the customer see the payment link?

  • Make sure to replace the XXX with your order ID. You can find this number on the invoice attached to your order confirmation.

  • Keep in mind that you need to open the link in an incognito window.

Can I change the payment method if I don't have another card?

Unfortunately, you're only able to switch from one credit card to another. We would suggest reaching out to the vendor and kindly asking them to create a new order for your remaining debt. This will allow you to select a new payment method that works best for you. Just be sure to have them cancel the existing order.
