Compliance with SOVOS

Updated over 3 months ago

Compliance processes in Corksy ensure that all orders meet tax and regulatory requirements. Admins must configure accounts properly in the Compliance Accounts section under the Admin Settings page before processing orders across the Admin, POS, or E-commerce Portals. If Carrier Accounts are not connected, orders cannot be completed, and an error message will appear.

SOVOS compliance workflow

  1. Before Tax Calculation:

    • Compliance checks for Sovos are performed before calculating taxes to ensure adherence to relevant tax and regulatory rules.

  2. For Every Edit:

    • Any changes trigger compliance re-validation to maintain regulatory compliance.

    • Tax is recalculated when an order is edited, even if previously committed.

  3. Order Types:

    • Compliance applies to all orders, except POS Pickup Orders, for which no checks are required.

  4. Tax Recalculation on Edit:

    • Adjustments in items, addresses, or delivery preferences will recalculate taxes accordingly.

SOVOS compliance rules

  1. SKU Compliance for Orders:

    • Products must have an SKU in Sovos; otherwise, they cannot be processed.

    • Secure federal and state permits.

    • Ensure compliance with labeling regulations.

    • Adhere to state laws regarding volume limits and DTC eligibility.

    • Use compliant carriers and packaging.

    • File excise taxes and shipping reports.
