Abandoned Cart
Updated over a week ago

The abandoned cart functionality allows you to track and chase up uncompleted orders in your checkout. Watch the video to see how you can activate and use the abandoned cart feature with your CCK website.

If a potential buyer types their name and email address on any checkout form and clicks any button on the form (but never completes the purchase), CCK will send an automatic email reminder to your potential buyer with a link to go back to the checkout page.

The abandoned cart feature is triggered after a set amount of time has passed since the visitor added items to their cart and did not complete the purchase in their checkout. You can set this time under Store - General.

To Activate Abandoned Cart

To activate your abandoned cart feature:

  1. Activate the abandoned cart timer inside your store settings area

  2. Activate the Connect to Email Marketing setting on your checkout form

  3. Activate a 2-step or 3-step checkout option on your checkout pages

  4. Activate your abandoned cart email sequence

1. Activate Abandoned Cart Timer in Your Store

Go to your CCK website and open Store - Settings - General. You will find a timer setting allowing you to select the time after which the order will be classed as "Abandoned". We recommend setting this to 1 hour.

You can also choose not to track these orders by selecting the option "Do not track abandoned carts". This will switch off the abandoned cart feature for your entire website.

2. Activate the Connect to Email Marketing Setting

The Connect to Email Marketing setting will subscribe a user to your email list, which will allow them to receive your Abandoned Cart Email sequence. To enable this setting on your checkout form, select the checkout widget and click the settings option as shown below:

Next, select the Connect to Email Marketing setting and select your main mailing list. Click confirm once you are done.

3. Enable 2-Step or 3-Step Checkout

To enable a 2-step or 3-step checkout on your checkout form, open your checkout page, then select the checkout widget and click on the edit styling paintbrush icon. On the Checkout Design Type pop-up screen, select 2-Step or 3-Step checkout.

The 2-step checkout is shown below. The customer is asked to complete their personal details on the 1st step, including their name and email address as well as their billing address. Their payment or billing details are only asked for on the 2nd step.

The 3-step checkout is shown below. The customer is asked to complete their personal details on the 1st step, including their name and email address. Their billing address is asked for on the 2nd step. Their payment or billing details are only asked for on the 3rd step.

Abandoned Cart Email Benefits

The abandoned cart allows you to track how many of all orders end up being abandoned. You can see this metric by going to your Store Dashboard - Abandoned Carts as shown below.

Additionally, you can look up each Abandoned order by going to your Orders tab - Abandoned. Each one will contain information, just as any regular order does.

It also allows you to follow up on incomplete orders by creating an Abandoned Cart email automation. This email automation will trigger a sequence of emails, allowing you to make a special offer to potential buyers who did not complete their checkout orders.

Abandoned Cart Automation Errors

The abandoned cart feature has to have a user's email address to send them the abandoned cart email sequence.

For this reason, a 2-step or 3-step checkout has to be enabled on your checkout form. You also need to subscribe a user to your email list. You can do this directly on your checkout form or inside your abandoned cart email automation.

Abandoned Cart Tracking

You can track your abandoned checkouts (Carts) in your CCK online store area. Go to your Store - Orders - Abandoned. This will show all abandoned cart checkouts as shown below.

You can also view all abandoned carts for a specific funnel by opening the funnel and selecting the order option on the left.
