Restricting POS Charges for Inactive Members

Configure the POS system to prevent inactive or specified members from making charges to their account.

INTRODUCTION

  • Feature Summary: Suspend a member's ability to have POS transactions charged to their account.

  • Use Cases: Systems users can restrict account charges in two ways: 1) Stop inactive or suspended members from making POS transactions; 2) Block specific members from making POS transactions (e.g. restrict children on a family membership from charging purchases to the account).

PREREQUISITES

System users know how to launch the POS and process a transaction.


SETUP REQUIREMENTS

Inactive or suspended members

To stop inactive or suspended members from charging POS transactions:

  1. Launch the POS and add items to the shopping cart.

  2. Go to POINT OF SALES > SETTINGS.

  3. Check the Do Not Allow Suspended or Inactive Members to Charge POS Items box.

  4. Click Save changes.

Restrict selected members

To stop a specific member from making POS transactions:

  1. Open a player's profile page.

  2. Make sure the Details tab is selected.

  3. Scroll down to the Charge to Account Not Allowed on POS line.

  4. Check the box to enable this feature.

  5. Click Save Changes.

To restrict a member of a family account (e.g. a child):

  1. Click MEMBERSHIPS on the side menu.

  2. On the Memberships page, click the Family Memberships tab.

  3. Select a membership plan and then click the Edit icon.

On the next page:

  1. Click the Members tab.

  2. Locate a member's name and click the pencil icon.

Make sure the Details tab is selected.

  1. Scroll down to the Charge to Account Not Allowed on POS line.

  2. Check the box to enable this feature.

  3. Click Save Changes.

Only system users can enable this restriction on POS charges to member accounts.

FEATURE USAGE - ADMINS' PERSPECTIVE

When club staff try to charge a transaction to an account, but the member has restricted permissions, the POS screen displays an error message. To complete the transaction, the member needs to use a different payment method.
