What’s New with Octo?
We’ve rolled out a fresh batch of updates to make managing cost insights in Octo more intuitive, flexible, and insightful. These features focus on deepening visibility across filters, enhancing container cost analysis, and streamlining the overall navigation and management of cost groups. Whether you’re drilling into dimensions or flipping between views, these changes are designed to save you time and give you more control.
Let’s take a look at these new features.
🆕Enhanced Filter Visibility in Cost Group Details
We’ve improved the filtering experience in the Cost Group Details page to help users better understand and manage their selected filters without the need to repeatedly toggle the filter popup.
Problem Addressed:
Previously, when multiple items were selected under a single filter category, only a summary count was displayed (e.g., “3 selected”), making it difficult for users to recall specific selections. Since grouping is limited to one dimension at a time, users had limited visibility into which filters were actively applied across multiple categories. This made comparison and fine-tuning of filters complicated.
What’s New:
Expanded Filter Options: In addition to existing filters (Service, Account, Vendor), the following filters are now available:
Region
Usage Type
Billing Account
Category
Charge Type
Vendor-Aware Filtering: Filter options are now vendor-aware, meaning that selecting a vendor will update available filter values specific to that vendor.
Improved Filter Display: All selected filter items are now displayed clearly on the page, allowing users to easily review and adjust filters without reopening the filter modal.
Alignment with Grouping Options: The available filters now align with the existing dimensions used for grouping, excluding tags (which are still under development).
Benefits:
Better visibility of applied filters
Easier comparison and analysis
Reduced need to toggle between filter modal and visualization
This update makes it simpler to refine cost insights and enhances usability for complex, multi-dimensional cost group analysis.
🆕Container Cost Filters & Groupings
Following the enhancement of the AI Cost Feature and Cost Group Details, we are excited to introduce the same powerful Filters & Groupings capability to the Container Cost Feature.
Previously, filtering was limited to a simple “Group by” dropdown, with dimensions specific to ECS and EKS respectively. Now, with the enhanced Filters & Groupings, you can filter container costs by the same dimensions and also combine filters across them for deep, contextual analysis of your container workloads.
This new capability is available in the Detailed View under the Insights tab of any Container Cost Group. Whether you need to filter by a single value or apply multiple filters across dimensions, this enhancement offers more targeted, flexible control over your container cost analysis – helping you drill down, compare, and uncover meaningful trends within your container cost data.
🆕Navigation: Cost Group Routing
We’ve enhanced the navigation experience for Cost Groups by updating the routing logic and reorganizing key components within the interface. These changes aim to provide a more intuitive flow when managing and exploring cost group details.
What’s Changed:

Clicking the Cost Group menu now takes you directly to the Cost Group List, making access quicker and more predictable.
