Open Costbook

Shows the list of estimating costbooks available.

Or Under Main Menu < File Menu, click: :

Click the name of the costbook to display the file contents at the right side of your screen.

  • Each costbook has hundreds of pages of labor and material cost estimates for construction. Any estimate can be copied from the costbook and pasted to your estimate.

  • Material prices in costbooks are revised quarterly as prices change. Labor, equipment and subcontract prices are revised annually.

Clicking the plus symbol at the top of the costbook window opens a list of the costbooks available.

You can open all ten costbooks at one time but only one costbook will be displayed on your screen. To jump from costbook to costbook, click on the tab of your choice.

To close any costbook, click the after the costbook name.

Each estimate stores a list of costbooks associated with that estimate. When you re-open an estimate, the costbooks last used with that estimate will also re-open.

Tips:

  • Click and drag the box in the slide bar at the right of the costbook window to motor through the costbook. You’ll see a topic and page number in the “thumb” at the right of your screen. Release the slide bar to jump to that page.

  • To turn one page at a time, click the left or right arrow to the left of the page number. See Turning Costbook Pages.

  • To jump to a specific page, click in the number box. Then type the page number you want to see. Click the arrow to the right of the number box to turn to that page.

  • To create an audit trail for costs copied to your estimate, see Bookmarks.

  • Use Keyword Search to find estimates in costbooks.

  • Use the Index Window to search the book index. The book index has many synonyms.

  • Use the Contents Window to search by construction category.
