How do I turn off Asset Number requirements?

Updated over 11 months ago

It can be difficult to track all of your many different Assets, especially for our larger Providers. The usual and often most effective means of tracking them comes down to its Asset Number, without which one bin might as well be another bin in CRO.

Now, CRO leaves it up to you whether or not you want to require Asset Numbers on all of your assets and even if they're not required, you're welcome to use them in any way you see fit. However, if you do end up enabling CRO's, "Require Asset Numbers" function, then you won't be able to process a request without one.

Therein lies the issue: sometimes our Providers will create a new asset or otherwise end up accidentally turning on this feature and will, then, find themselves unable to complete a job when they can't locate the asset number. Or, even worse, sometimes a driver will enter a bogus Asset Number just to finish the request, which ultimately throws the whole Asset Number situation into chaos.

So, how do you turn off the Asset Number requirement, so you can either maintain them yourselves or not use them at all? It's actually very simple.

If you navigate to your Assets page, and then locate which asset type you want to edit, simply click on the pencil icon to the right. This brings up the options for that Asset, including the, "Require Asset Numbers" option.

If you turn this option off, then it will no longer require asset numbers when working with it. This only applies to that, particular asset and, by default, this option is turned on.

This should alleviate any issues you or your drivers are having with setting Asset numbers. Just bear in mind: this will make it possible to enter invalid asset numbers, or none at all.
