How does a Multiplier work?

Can supporters raise funds for my project?

Boost Your Crowdfunding: Let Supporters Fundraise for You!

Want to supercharge your crowdfunding campaign? Our Multiplier feature allows your supporters to create their own fundraising pages that link directly to your main project. This means all the money they raise contributes to your overall target and goes straight into your bank account.

For Project Owners: Setting Up a Multiplier

The Multiplier feature is perfect for tapping into your network. If you have friends, family, colleagues, or community members who want to help you raise funds, follow these steps:

  1. Find Supporters: First, confirm that people are willing to set up fundraisers to support your campaign.

  2. Request Activation: Once you have willing fundraisers, fill out the request form on this page. We'll then upgrade your project to a Multiplier.

  3. Start Fundraising Button: After activation, a "Start Fundraising" button will appear on your project page. Your supporters can simply click this to begin setting up their own campaigns.

Tracking Supporter Fundraisers

Keeping tabs on your Multiplier project is easy:

  • Fundraisers Tab: You can monitor all activity from your supporters' fundraisers in the Fundraisers tab of your project dashboard.

  • Share Rewards: You can even share your project's rewards with your fundraisers, allowing their supporters to pledge for them too! To do this, go to "Edit project" in your dashboard, then the Rewards tab, and select "Share rewards with fundraisers."

Important Considerations for Multiplier Projects

When you activate the Multiplier feature, there are a couple of key changes to be aware of:

  • Flexible Funding: Your project will automatically switch to flexible funding. If you originally chose "All or Nothing," we recommend informing your supporters about this change through a project update or direct message.

  • Always On: Your project will also become "Always On" once your initial closing date passes. This means you can continue to receive donations through your project page indefinitely.

For Supporters: Starting a Fundraiser for a Multiplier Project

Ready to help a project you care about? Here's how to set up your own fundraiser:

  1. Click 'Start Fundraising': Look for the "Start Fundraising" button on the main project page (pictured above) and click it.

  2. Create Your Page: You can then customise your own fundraiser page. This includes:

    • Setting your own fundraising target.

    • Adding videos or images.

    • Sharing your unique story about why you're supporting the campaign.

    • Adding any rewards that are available on the main project page.

  3. No Bank Details Needed: You won't need to add your bank details! All funds you raise will go directly to the main project you're supporting.

  4. Deadline Management: Fundraisers cannot extend their project deadlines independently. If you need to make changes, please contact Crowdfunder support for assistance.

Multipliers and Match Funding

Match funding partners often require specific criteria to release funds, such as a minimum number of unique supporters (also known as qualifying pledges).

When using Multipliers:

  • Supporters who donate to either the main project or a "child" fundraiser will count as unique supporters.

  • However, if a single supporter donates to multiple projects within the same Multiplier family, they will only be counted as one unique supporter overall.

What Happens When You Click 'Start Fundraising'?

When a supporter clicks the 'Start fundraising' button on Crowdfunder, they are guided through a simple process:

  1. Confirmation: First, you'll see a confirmation page. This asks if you want to proceed with starting a fundraiser or if you'd prefer to make a direct donation, ensuring you make an informed choice.

  2. Customisation: You can then personalise your fundraising page by adding your target, media, and story.

  3. Automatic Financial Link: The platform automatically links your fundraiser to the primary project's bank account. You don't need to provide your own financial details.

  4. Deadline Control: Remember, you cannot change your campaign deadline yourself. If you need to adjust it, please contact Crowdfunder support.
