The WoW Forever legacy system rewards your whole account. You earn Legacy Points from Legacy Challenges, such as level 25, 45 and 60 on each class. A search snippet of Icy Veins counts 65 challenges. Warcraft Tavern names six categories. You spend points in three Legacy trees, with a 16-point cap at launch. Your point total also opens a cosmetic track that ends with a mount.

The World of Warcraft Forever legacy system is a progress layer above your characters. Timesaver describes it as account-wide. Your points come from milestones that you reach in normal play. The milestones include class levels, profession skill, PvP ranks, raid kills, exploration and groups of dungeons.

You spend the points on small perks in three Legacy trees. Your point total also counts toward a separate track of cosmetic rewards.

The system is already in the beta. A Warcraft Tavern headline reports that Legacy Points went live together with the City of Dalaran dungeon. In a Blizzard forum post, the developers said they planned to give every tester 16 Legacy Points. Beta progress does not carry over to launch, so those points end with the beta.

World of Warcraft Forever Legacy Points are the currency of the Legacy system. Each Legacy Challenge that you complete pays points. The Warcraft Tavern Legacy guide says that your first point usually comes from level 25. The other early path is 150 skill in a non-gathering tradeskill.

A search summary of Icy Veins and Warcraft Tavern adds a third path to your first point: full map exploration. Full exploration is a long goal, so level 25 or a crafting profession is the likelier first point.

The 16-point cap applies to spending. Warcraft Tavern says your total amount of Legacy Points unlocks the rewards, so the track can keep moving after your trees are full.

Warcraft Tavern names six categories of Legacy Challenges. An Icy Veins search snippet gives the total of 65 challenges and the size of three categories. We found no public count for the other three categories.

The class count fits the level milestones. Three milestones on each of the nine classes make 27 challenges. The three known counts add up to 57. The other 8 challenges split across Adventure, Dungeons and Raids.

Class challenges are the easiest points. A character of a new class starts a new set of three, and new combos such as the Undead Paladin give you a reason to roll one. Our guide to WoW Forever racials and new class combos lists the options.

The three launch raids unlock on 9 December 2026: Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20 players and Onyxia's Lair for 40 players. You cannot earn raid points before that date. Our WoW Forever dungeons guide lists all 9 new dungeons with their level ranges and the raid unlock dates.

Most Legacy Points WoW Forever players earn early come from a normal leveling route. Use this order:

Timesaver says no. It says the Legacy system does not speed up leveling. Two perks in the guides touch rest and travel. Warcraft Tavern lists Well Rested, which gives more rested XP and more rested storage. A Warcraft Tavern search snippet describes Frequent Flier: a 50% discount on flight paths and a flight path mount that flies 20% faster.

Principal Designer Kris Zierhut says, as quoted in a search summary, that the XP curve did not change. A search snippet of Icy Veins reports a Blizzard stat: level 1 to 20 takes 20.5 hours in Forever, against 20.4 hours in Classic. A MassivelyOP summary says analytics show slightly slower than Era. Route choice likely matters more than any Legacy perk.

RestedXP lists Tailored Paths for Every Class among its planned features, with talent and Legacy Points recommendations. The Forever Speedrun Guide for levels 1 to 35 is done today.

World of Warcraft Forever Legacy talents sit in three trees: Professions, Adventure and Resourcefulness. Warcraft Tavern says each tree holds up to 25 points. Three trees with 25 points each hold 75 points in total. The initial release caps your spending at 16 points across all three trees.

Timesaver reports the cap as a per-character spend limit and expects it to grow later. If so, a gatherer alt and a raid main could each pick different perks.

Zockify confirms that professions have their own Legacy tree. Zockify could not confirm earlier reports of unique profession passives, such as Mixology, in the beta data. Method.gg offers legacy calculators and Legacy Points builds. Plan your 16 points there first, because the respec price at launch is unknown.

The number 16 appears in both talent systems, so keep them apart.

The respec price for Legacy talents is not settled. Two sources disagree:

Nobody has published the launch price. Icy Veins says original class respec prices return at launch. Legacy respecs may follow the same pattern. Pick perks that help every character, such as rest or travel perks, and change them only when your goals change.

Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet hands out the Legacy rewards. Warcraft Tavern calls them seasonal cosmetic rewards. The rewards give no combat power.

The mount needs 55 points, which is far more than the 16 you can spend. Several characters, professions and the three launch raids can feed the track. One main character alone gives only three class challenges.

Classic Era has no Legacy system. There are no WoW Classic legacy points to bring with you.

Hardcore comes later. The wiki lists Winter 2026/2027 for the Hardcore launch, with no exact date. Blizzard Watch reports that Legacy Points from Hardcore carry to the other three rulesets. Points from Normal, PvP or Roleplay do not carry into Hardcore.

The official roadmap lists "professions and Legacy updates" for Summer 2027. Blizzard gives seasons only, and the image footer says that content and timing are subject to change. Timesaver expects the 16-point cap to expand. We found no date for a higher cap. The Blizzard WoW Forever announcement has the launch details.

Legacy Points arrive with levels, so a fast route is also the fastest start on the Legacy track. The RestedXP Forever guides for levels 1 to 35 are done, per the RestedXP update of 9 October 2026. Forever routes for 35 to 60 come after launch, and until then the existing Era routes cover 35 to 60.
