How can I set the read speed for my Text?

Learn how to set a different read speed per Text Block and Text-Area field in Cue Blocks, for your Timings calculation

Set your read speed per Text Block

In the Block configuration of your Text Block, you can edit the read speed of your Text. By default, when you create a new Text Block, the speed will be set on 120 words per minute. Click on the Words per minute and change that number to the number of words per minute that best matches your read speed.

The configuration of the read speed is done per Text Block and will apply for the whole Project.

Set your read speed per Text-Area field in Cue Blocks

When creating a Text-Area field in a Cue Block, you can also decide to include the content in timings or not.

If you select 'Include content in timings' you will also have the option to set your read speed. Same as for the Text Blocks, that configuration is done per Text-Area field in a Cue Block and will apply for the whole Project.

Calculation of Timings with the new read speed

If you decide to edit the read speed of a Text Block or Text-Area field in a Cue Block, used in your Script or Rundown, the Est. Duration of the Blocks will update automatically, with the new read speed.

Example of using different read speed per Text Block

Setting different Text Blocks with a different read speed can be useful in several cases.

If for example you have two hosts for your show, you can create two different Text Blocks, each with a different read speed. This way, the Est. Duration calculation will be accurate for both Hosts and their specific read speed.
