When things change quickly over the course of an event, you need to be sure that all of your production documents can keep up. Doing ingredient substitutions in your shopping lists ensures that your recipes, prints, and shopping lists are all accurate at the moment that you need them, keeping your team aligned and your event on schedule.

How to substitute an item in your shopping list:

  1. Create or access a shopping list from your Documents tab or your event.

  2. Click the pencil icon at the top right to enable editing.

  3. Click the arrows next the item that you would like to exchange.

  4. Select a new item from the dropdown list.

  5. Click "Save" at the top right.

  6. Check that you do want the items to exchange and click "Confirm Swap"

You'll now see that substitution reflected in your recipes in your proposal, as well as in your prints.

FAQs about Shopping List Substitutions:

  • When substituting items, they must have the same unit type (measurement system) as the item you are exchanging. For example, ingredients measuring "weight" may only be exchanged with other ingredients measuring "weight". For this reason, only items with the same unit type are displayed as options when substituting.

  • Only items that are currently in your library may be used for substitutions. To use an item that is yet to be in your library, you'll want to create that item within your library or within a recipe before attempting to substitute that item in your shopping list.

  • Changing to an item with a different price may change the suggested price for your recipes.
