Not only can you use lists in Gearbelt as an easy way to store and share data, you can also integrate your lists in your form templates to automate some of the form filling task for your team.
To do so, follow these steps:
1 . Once you've created your list (see how to create a list in Gearbelt), go to the 'Custom Forms' section in the left-side navigation menu
2. Select the relevant form
3. Select 'Edit' to be brought to the Form Template Editor
4. Once in the Template Editor, drag and drop a List field from the field section
5. A pane will open on the right hand-side, where you'll be able to specify the list field heading as it will appear in your form, its description, if it is a required field or not, the list source and if you wish to allow multiple selections
6. For the list items source, you can:
Manually input the list items in the List Items section - this is relevant if the list won't be reused, i.e. it is specific to this form only
Link to an external list - it will link back to whichever list you select from your recorded lists in the Lists section. This option ensures that any changes made to the list will update in the form template as well
Import items from an external list - it will import all items from a selected list already recorded in your Lists section. Changes made to the list won't affect the items that appear in the form template
