The Dashpivot mobile app includes a GPS Status Indicator to help users capture more accurate, location-tagged photos in the field. This feature improves visibility over whether a photo has a verified location - especially useful for audits, compliance, and traceability.

When you open the photo capture screen in the Dashpivot mobile app, you’ll see a small GPS icon at the top of your screen. This icon gives you real-time feedback on your device's GPS status:

  • Solid icon: GPS location is locked and ready

  • Flashing icon: App is still searching for a GPS fix

  • Crossed-out icon: GPS is unavailable (location permissions may be disabled)

Tapping the icon displays detailed GPS data, including:

  • Latitude and Longitude

  • Accuracy (in metres)

How to use this functionality:

1. Open the Dashpivot app and navigate to the camera icon in the bottom right corner

2. Check the GPS icon at the top of the screen.

3. If the icon is flashing, wait a moment for GPS to lock in (recommended for higher accuracy)

4. Tap the icon to verify your location and accuracy before taking the photo

5. Capture and save your photo - the GPS location will be stored with it

Tips for better accuracy

  • Wait for the GPS to lock in (solid icon) before taking the photo

  • Make sure Dashpivot has location permissions enabled in your phone’s settings

  • Step outside or move near a window if the app can’t find your GPS - some buildings might block signal

  • Tap the icon to check the GPS accuracy before capturing, especially if it’s critical for reporting
