For manual card entry and tap to pay users, please skip to Step 3: Run your First Transaction.
If you're adding a device for an Independent Service Provider, please make sure you're in their employee profile under Employment setup, not the business settings.
Before starting the setup process, ensure your device is plugged in and charging for at least 30 minutes or is fully charged.
If the device loses power during updates, it can result in the device becoming corrupted and unable to process payments.
🔌Step 1: Set up your Hardware

Remove the battery cover: Use a tool that won’t cause damage, and lift at the small notch located at the lower-left corner of the back.
Insert the battery
Snap the cover back on securely and flip over.
Connect the charging cable: Plug in the charger to ensure it stays powered during updates.
Power on the device: Hold the power button (on the right side) for a few seconds until the device turns on
Select your language
Select your country
Select your WiFi network: a network with a password is required.
Stripe Reader S700/S710

Connect the charging cable: Plug in the charger to ensure it stays powered during setup and updates.
Power on the device: Hold the power button (on the right side) for a few seconds until the device turns on

If you have a Stripe reader S710 and want to use cellular only, click Continue with Cellular to bypass WiFi.
You will need to follow the steps below to enable cellular to take payments. If cellular isn't enabled in Stripe and connecting to WiFi is skipped, you will run into issues when taking a payment.

⛔ Once Cellular is enabled for the location, you will be charged $10 a month for each Stripe Reader S710 device.
Only the Stripe reader S710 is cellular compatible. Unsure which model you have? Flip over your reader and look under the SN number. The model type will be listed.
Log in to the Stripe Dashboard.
On the left-hand side, click Payments
From the drop-down, click Terminal
Click the Locations subheading.
Select the Location with the device you'd like to enable cellular for.
Locate the cellular modem setting. It can be under Local configurations or Inherited configurations.
Click Override. You will need to hover your mouse over the pencil icon to see the word override.
On the Cellular connectivity pop-up, toggle Enabled to on, then click Update in the bottom right.
Acknowledge the billing notice by clicking Confirm.
Click Apply changes in the bottom right corner.
Restart the Stripe Reader S710 so it can update to pick up these changes.
Once the reader reboots, a message will appear saying “Network configuration has changed. Device will reboot to take effect”. This confirms the reader has taken the new cellular configuration. The reader will reboot again.
Once the device has completed the reboot, you should see a cellular signal indicator in the top bar, and you're ready to take payments on cellular!
Stripe Reader M2

Connect the charging cable: Plug in the device to ensure it stays powered during setup and updates.
Turn on the reader: Press the power button on the side of the Stripe Reader M2. The status LEDs will light up for 2 seconds, and the device will beep twice to indicate it’s powered on.
The reader will wait up to 5 minutes for a Bluetooth connection. If it doesn’t connect within that time, it will automatically power off to conserve battery.
When the reader connects to DaySmart, all four LEDs flash. After that, the first LED blinks every five seconds to show it’s connected. It stays connected in standby mode and wakes up when you start using it again.
If there's no activity for 10 hours, it turns off automatically. You can also turn it off manually by holding the power button for four seconds.
BBPOS WisePad 3

Connect the charging cable: Plug in the charger to ensure it stays powered during setup and updates.
Turn on the reader: Press and hold the power button located at the top right corner of the PIN pad until the screen lights up.
The display will dim after a few seconds of inactivity, and if the device remains inactive and disconnected from your app for more than 5 minutes, it will beep and power off automatically to conserve battery.
⚙️ Step 2: Register your Reader in DaySmart

In the DaySmart mobile app, click More… at the bottom right, then Settings at the bottom.
Click Credit Card Processing Settings
Click Credit Card Device Settings.
Click the + button in the bottom right corner.
Select the Device Type.
Enter the registration code: Input the code displayed on the screen, make sure to include the dashes.
Enter a Name for the device: this is your choice and comes in handy if you have more than one device.
Click Finish
Wait for updates: The device will begin updating its software. This may take some time, so stay patient.

In the DaySmart mobile app, click More… at the bottom right, then Settings at the bottom.
Click Credit Card Processing Settings
Click Credit Card Device Settings.
Click the + button in the bottom right corner.
Select the Device Type.
Once prompted with the Bluetooth Pairing Request notification on the phone, click Pair.
Follow the prompts on the phone screen to connect the device. The app should automatically find the device once powered on.
The app may prompt that it is updating the device. Keep the device powered on and in range and wait for the update to complete. This may take some time, so stay patient. The device will chirp when the update is almost complete.
Once the device is successfully paired, you will be able to give it a nickname. You can use the default name if you would like.
Click Finish.

Click on the three dots More.
Select Settings from the menu that appears.
Click Card Processing on the left-hand side menu, and then click Settings again.
Under your Account ID, click + Add Device.
Enter a Device Name. Choose a name that helps you identify the device, especially if you have multiple devices.
Enter the Registration Code displayed on the reader's screen. Make sure to include the dashes in the code.
Click Save
Wait for updates: The device will begin updating its software. This may take some time, so stay patient.

As soon as your credit card reader is all set up, you're good to go! Just create a new appointment and get ready to check out. It's that easy!

The registration code is the three-word-prompt on the display of the reader. If you're not seeing this, use the steps below:
Swipe from left to right to open the menu.

Enter the admin PIN 07139
Click the second option, Generate Pairing Code.
Click the back button twice to get back to the DaySmart screen.
Q: If I enable cellular, will all readers assigned to a location be billed for cellular?

Not necessarily, only cellular-capable readers assigned to a cellular-enabled location will result in a monthly charge.
All other non-cellular capable terminals, like the Stripe Reader S700, BBPOS WisePOS E, Stripe Reader M2, BBPOS WisePad 3, or Tap to Pay terminals, will not result in a monthly charge.
Example #1: Stripe Location has 2x S710 with cellular-enabled.
This will result in 2 cellular monthly charges. one for each device
Example #2: Stripe Location has 1x S710 and 1x S700 with cellular-enabled.
This will result in 1 cellular monthly charge for the S710.
Example #3: Stripe Location has 1x S700 and 1x WisePOS E and is cellular-enabled.
This will result in no monthly charges.
Q: Can I have cellular and WiFi enabled?

Yes, if you have cellular enabled, you can still have a WiFi connection on the device. The device will use WiFi as the main connection type. If the WiFi connection becomes unstable, the Stripe Reader S710 will switch to your cellular connection to ensure you don't lose service during a payment. No need to manually switch internet connections.
If you have unlimited cellular enabled as a backup, you'll be charged $10per device, per month, it is enabled even if only the WiFi connection was used. This is just like an unlimited data plan with your cell phone.
