Fire Studio 7 Installation Guide (Windows 10/11)

Last Updated: August 19, 2025
Applies to: Fire Studio 7 on Windows 10/11

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing Fire Studio 7 on Windows. It includes prerequisites, installation, creating a restore point, and important notes to help you avoid common issues.

🔄 Upgrading from an Earlier Version

If you already have an earlier version of Fire Studio, uninstall it first before installing Fire Studio 7.

  • Even with an upgrade purchase, Fire Studio 7 is a full replacement.

  • It will not run alongside older versions.

🧪 Demo Mode

Fire Studio 7 includes a Demo Mode that allows you to test the software before entering a license number.

  • What works: All core functions except loading and saving simulations.

  • 🚫 What’s restricted: Opening and saving simulation files.

  • 💡 When to use: Great for testing installation and exploring features.

🔑 Administrator Privileges (Windows Only)

Fire Studio 7 must be installed and launched once with administrator rights.

  1. After installation, right-click the Fire Studio 7 icon.

  2. Select Run as Administrator.

  3. This step allows Windows to create required files and registry entries.

After the first run, non-administrator accounts can use Fire Studio 7 — but all users must have full read/write permissions to the C:\Users\<YourName>\Documents\FireStudio7 folder.

⚠️ Important Restrictions

  • Remote Desktop Installations: 🚫 Not supported. Fire Studio must be installed and run locally.

  • Server Installations: 🚫 Not supported. Installing on a shared or cloud server for multiple users violates the license agreement.

🖥️ Installation Steps

Step 1: Locate the Installation Files

  1. Download the installer from the link you received in your original email.

  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP file first.

    • 👉 Right-click the ZIP > Extract All.

    • ✅ Confirm you see setup.exe and related files.

Step 2: Run the Installer

  1. Go to the folder containing setup.exe.

  2. 👉 Right-click > Run as Administrator.

  3. Follow on-screen instructions:

    • Accept the license agreement.

    • Choose an installation folder (default: Documents\FireStudio7).

Step 3: First Launch

  1. Find the Fire Studio 7 icon.

  2. 👉 Right-click > Run as Administrator (first launch only).

  3. After initialization, non-admin users can run the program normally (with permissions).

Step 4: Verify the Installation

  • Open Fire Studio 7.

  • Enter your License ID and Password to unlock full features.

  • In the Install Name box, enter something that identifies that computer (i.e Training Laptop 1). This is optional, but helpful if you have multiple installations.

🛡️ Creating a Windows Restore Point

After confirming Fire Studio 7 is running properly, this is the best time to create a Windows Restore Point.
Think of this as a safety net — if a Windows update or system change breaks Fire Studio, you can roll your system back to this working state.

Why Create a Restore Point?

  • 🔄 Windows updates or changes may stop Fire Studio from running.

  • ⚡ Restoring is faster than reinstalling from scratch.

  • 🧘 Gives peace of mind that your system can be rolled back if needed.

Step-by-Step: How to Create a Restore Point

  1. Press Windows + S and type:
    👉 Create a restore point

    • Click the result with the System Properties icon.

  2. In the System Properties window, select the System Protection tab.

  3. Under Protection Settings, check that your system drive (C:) shows Protection: ON.

    • If it says OFF → Click Configure → Enable protection → Allocate 5–10% disk space.

  4. 👉 Click Create.

  5. Enter a clear name, e.g.,
    “Fire Studio 7 Installation – August 19, 2025”

  6. ✅ Click Create again and wait for confirmation.

🔔 Reminders

  • 📂 Back up your simulation files and custom backgrounds first. System Restore only protects Windows settings, not personal files.

  • 🔄 Create new restore points after major Windows updates or software installs.

  • 🛠️ If Fire Studio breaks after an update, use this restore point to quickly recover.

🛠️ Common Issues & Fixes

  • Installation fails: Ensure files are extracted and run setup.exe as Administrator.

  • 🔑 Permission errors: Confirm all users have Full Control of the FireStudio7 folder.

  • 🚫 Software doesn’t launch: Run as Administrator (first time); check Windows compatibility.

  • ☁️ OneDrive conflicts: Ensure Documents\FireStudio7 is stored locally, not synced to OneDrive.
