Overview
This guide walks through how to successfully reserve and connect to a Dispel VDI via RDP as a Facility Admin or Organization Admin.
If you are a VDI-User or Organization User without admin privileges, please use the guide linked below.
If you are looking to connect to your virtual desktop via HTTPS rather than RDP, please visit the link below.
Pre-Requisites
If you are a Facility Admin trying to access a Facility that you are not an admin of, you will need:
Access Window: An approved access window for that facility (follow this guide on how to request access as a Facility admin).
*Note: You do not need an access window for Facilities that you are already an admin of.
User Configurations: An admin to add you as a member of necessary Regions, Facilities, Stacks, and devices. Reach out to your admin if you are unsure of this.
If You are a MAC User, you will need to download Microsoft Remote Desktop.
Admin Walkthrough
Reserving a Virtual Desktop
Navigate to the desired stack that you want to reserve from. (Stacks → <Desired Stack> → Desktops)
Click
Reserve
to reserve a desktop for your user.After your desktop is reserved, click
Quick Connect
. This will:Alternatively, if your Organization restricts RDP and has enabled in-browser VDIs, you can expand your reservation and follow the in-browser link to your VDI.

💡 Expanding Your Reservation Details
By selecting the arrow beside your name on your VDI reservation, you will see additional information about your VDI reservation including the VDI's IP, credentials, and time-to-live. Your virtual desktop will automatically destroy at this expiration date.
Alternatively, you can destroy your virtual desktop by clicking the three dots next to the "Quick Connect" button on your listed reservation. Destroying your VDI will allow a new one to be built for other users in the Stack.
Connecting to your Virtual Desktop
The downloaded RDP file will display differently based on your operating system and browser. In all cases, you will need to open the downloaded RDP file (
guest-user_<IP Address>.rdp
).You will be prompted to enter the credentials of your reserved VDI. Hit "Continue" to log in.
You may get a pop-up asking you if you want to connect to an unknown host. Click
Continue
and you will be connected to your virtual desktop.Within a few seconds, your VDI will boot up.
